Do you dream a lot or not at all?

I dream all the time and in colour. I meet loads of strangers in my dreams and in the last while I've been dreaming a lot about Tsunamis and bicycles.

Any insight?

What do you dream about? In colour or in black and white? Do you ever have nightmares?

I've been having bad nightmare for about 3 years now, I have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder due to nearly dying 3 times due to the medical profession. I am now under a psychologist and he is doing research into people with PTSD having nightmares.

It's always the same and i have at least two a night,

I am stuck in a pinball machine with all these giant copper two pence pieces coming to get me, i'm running as fast as i can but they're getting closer, then i'm on the hospital bed with one Dr pushing his hands on my throat and the other Dr trying to force a mask on my face, they then tell people to hold me down, i always wake up at this point.....Can anyone tell me WTH that means????????????

I dream a lot. I dream in color, and I dream in great detail. I usually remember most of my dreams and I do have the occasional nightmare and it's always about a long-ago situation that I would love to forget.

Mine are usually about flying, riding, fighting, and sex. That's what happens when you don't get to have sex anymore, it invades your dreams.

I suffer from panic disorder so mine are sometimes crazy too.

I would imagine that the first one relates to being stuck in a situation that you are trying to escape and you feel as if you are being forced to stay. Maybe guilt about leaving or trying something new is holding you back. Next time let the coins catch you and see what happens.

The second one I think probably relates to your bad experience with the medical profession. I would suggest the same, if you can just lie there and let them hold you down and see how it ends. This has always helped me in the past. I mean confronting the fear in the dream.

Hi BR, I've rarely had the flying dream but I dream a lot about horse riding and being chased by horses. According this Freud this is also a phallic symbol. Are your dreams lucid?

It's strange because i actually feel as though i'm being strangled and have often woke up choking, one night i thought Jim had been trying to strangle me, so i went into the kids room and put a chair against the door. Of course i know he wouldn't do it really, well not without life insurance :sneaky:

Sometimes you can actually have a choking sensation in your sleep if you're lying in a strange position. It's the bodies way of warning you.

I used to think everyone dreamt in colour. I certainly do. And I tend to dream in stories. You know, beginning, middle, conclusion, a plot, the works. And can sometimes pick up a dream the next night if not finished, or repeat certain parts of a dream.

Unfortunately, I do have my fair share of nightmares as well. This tends to happen when I am really tired.

I think that full stop!!!!!!!! Thanks to a Dr i nearly died twice then thanks to two other Dr's trying to cover up i nearly lost my life again. I have lost my faith in Dr's, everyone thinks that they are miracle workers when in truth they are human and their decisions could mean life or death for many. :-5

Nightmares are common when stressed or tired but I like the way you dream. That's cool. You should start writing them down if they're interesting!! :)

I have re-occuring dreams...and they involve a big house that I go to visit with a friend...

I also dream about being in High School, and always late for school...(I'm driving).

I dream in color...alot of times I can't remember EVERYTHING in the dreams, just highlights...

I have had things in a dream come true before though...many times actually...

I don't trust the medical profession at all . I went into hospital for a Laparoscopy ( so see if my tubes were clear) . They even put a camera inside me to see if there were any problems, all came back clear . What they failed to see was a 9 week old foetus which i ended up having to terminate.

Thank god for caffiene:D

I think that's really interesting, Pinky...it's as if you read my thoughts which were pondering the difference between "real life" and our dreams. I was wondering if the gap was really as big as we might think and, by that I don't mean the literal representation of events, but the symbolism in both the waking and the dream state.

I know, Hamster....it's all fascinating to me at present but I sort of can't get a firm hold of what's floating around in my mind. I was feeling somehow deprived the other day about my current lack of dreams and then I began to wonder if I was manifesting it in real life and so, for the time being, didn't need to dream. Then of course, I began to ponder the difference between the waking and dreaming states...are both equally as symbolic?

My dreams consist of PMs now.

I'll be busy dreaming away then all of a sudden a big gray box pops up, I click on it and get a message then close the window and go back to the dream.

I wish I was joking.

Sometimes I dream about people who are no longer in my life. Its so sad when I wake up, because it feels like Ive actually been with them. Ive been dreaming lately where I am an observer of things going on. Sometimes I get messages in dreams. The other night the guy from the video store said to me " Would you like an update on the late fees?" Thank goodness I listened. I had 5 movies that I didnt realize were 3 day rentals. The fees were already 40.00 What a waste. But without the message, I would have had them sitting here another 3 days.

That's just it! I don't know what my dreams are made of. I dream most nights, I know this cos as I wake I can recall the last few seconds of the dream. Within the time it takes to be fully awake, even those few seconds memory are gone. It drives me mad, It's like a quick glimpse at the last page of a novel, just long enough to know it seemed like a great story, then not allowed to read it!..:-5

I do believe we can be visited by the spirit of loved ones. Or even people who are alive, who we are no longer with. It means they are thinking of you, or watching over you. There have been times in my life when I have been a very good receptor for information. But when channels are blocked by life stresses or a term I just heard recently ( and loved) " Static" you cannott hear what is coming to you. I actually just heard something yesterday that was very powerful. It concerns my path in life. I also often can sense things about other people. The crazy thing is that often, they know I know and they are either very drawn to me or they avoid me. I think that sleeping and dreaming are what it will be like to be dead.

That's interesting Weeder.

Just last night I was dreaming of being in a foreign land in some kind of buddist Temple. There were pictures on the ground and a friend was showing me what to do . You were supposed to pick up these little pieces of card with pictures on them and drop them on the big pictures as some sort of offering.

I also dream of loved ones who have passed over. Nice to think that they are helping us. :-4

My dreams teach me things about me. Just recently I had two in a two week period where a man was there who had been a big part of my life, and who I suffered over greatly when we broke up. He was close enough for me to see the hairs on his arms... close enough for me to touch. His wife was there also, but she didnt have a face.. ( makes sense as I never met her) I felt absolutely nothing, and it was wonderful. The dream showed me how much I have grown. It also solidified for me the knowledge that we never really belonged together. I woke up feeling positively free. But I also know that I probably had the dream because I have been on his mind.

I was a huge day dreamer when I was a kid also. I think that the end of day dreaming is the end of dreams coming true. I have been forcing myself to day dream lately. It is a temporary hide out from the pressures of living. Its interesting how if you conciously try to set your mind free... all kinds of interesting thoughts pass through.

I think dreams can give a little guidance. I tend to see dreams as signs on how to make improvements in my life. After a while, the hints are quite easily decoded as they dont tell directly any specific meaning, its usually like hints or some type of mixed up message.

It helps to see them as little helpers highlighting in succynct ways, areas in which we need to change. For example, over coming fears, anxieties, pressures etc. They all highlight the need to let go and treat more lightly those issues we fear and stress over in our day to day lives.

We tend to go through life grappleing at that which holds us back. They then reflect over into our sleep state causing more upset and trauma. The truth is, we are creating these things ourselves because we still hold onto them.

Walk away from the mental and the material blocks in life, then see those dreams eventually vanish. They might appear time and again but once we are no longer bothered by those issues in life, those dreams will have no effect.
