And I find that when I start to try and reclaim my projections, it's not only difficult but incredibly painful...it's much easier to condemn someone else and see the problem "out there" instead of within me. I find that the more critical I am of someone, the more likely it is to a quality that I'm denying in myself. Of course that also applies to positive qualities.

Yes, I think it can but I also believe in the old adage that we're never given more than we can handle (though it certainly feels as if we are sometimes!). So we do it gradually, stage by stage, and don't suddenly see all of our shadow aspects at once. I read somewhere, some years ago, that the unconscious is benevolent and works for us not against us...I find that helpful.

But I loathe it when I'm condemning someone and a little voice inside tells me that maybe it's me not them. That's when I start protesting my "innocence", just a little too much!

That's an interesting point...could you expand on it a bit more?

Yes, I have. I've got it on dvd but because it's American I can only play it on my computer. I felt inspired the first time I watched it but, as always, I soon lapsed back into my usual way of thinking things. A friend recently recommended The White Book (Ramtha) and although I'm only dipping into it, I find that inspirational too.

For me, Fairport Convention's beautiful rendition of She Moved Through the Fair symbolises a person's search for their anima.
