On this we agree.

One can only hope that the BBC doesn't pull their switcheroo on the leading man between seasons, like they have on Doctor Who.

Oh koan..My husband hates the new dr Who. He likes the show, and still watches it, but really is not connecting with the New Who.

I watched the season with Christopher Eccleston and when I heard he wasn't coming back I couldn't bear to watch anymore. The final episode with David Tennant made me miserable. Maybe he was good, but not after Eccleston.

I like it. British Sci fi seems a lot more off the wall than american series. They always seem to feel the need to bring in relevant social comment and turn it in to soaps with funny aliens exploring the sociological issues of the day. V is on just now, that was dreadful at the time despite a promising start.

I like stargate and atlantis though. suspend disbelief and they are enjoyable at least they don't take it too seriously.

Bring back blakes seven. SCi Fi so bad it's compelling viewing.

Helefra - I too like the lead man but am a little put off by knowing he's gay. Only because I can't comfortably fantasise about someone who wouldn't touch me with his barge pole!

Love the show, love Dr Who (Ecclestone the best)

I just watched 10 episodes of this and I have to say the actors are really good. They get thrown into scenes with no lead up and have to somehow keep the audience with them. Sudden drama with little reason for the audience to care or believe in it but they somehow keep you with them. I've had quite a few laugh out louds on this show but I'm still rooting for them. I heard good things about the Fairy episode... Warning: don't expect anything and you might feasibly enjoy it. I thought it the worst episode so far, but I haven't seen the first three.

Does anyone else have a problem with Owen being some kind of sex symbol? It seems everyone has slept with him except Jack. I don't get it.

In the gay scene last week instead of being repulsed I was almost in tears. It was soooo sad! :(

:wah:

I was sad too but for much different reasons. It was entirely unbelievable. The second they started kissing - in 1941!!!! - my jaw dropped and I said aloud "They can't do that!"

There is no way that the army captain could have openly kissed a man in front of all his men in the 1940s. It was just not right. The writer screwed up.

Of COURSE it was unbelievable! It was as unbelievable as them being transported back in time by an evil clockmaker in league with the devil. :D ;)

No. That's different.

That is an unknown so that, if they are clever enough they can suspend our disbelief and we can follow their yarn. The 1940s on Earth are a known quantity. If they falsify then they lose the suspension of disbelief and wreck their story.

Well said - that whole sub plot ruined the episodes for me. Earlier in the series there had been an episode about Captain Jack's huge love for a woman who was now old. there had also been hints at a relationship to come with Gwen then suddenly he's all over a bloke. I can believe everything else 'cos I know it's not real but I expect the characters to act in a consistant way.

And I hoped Owen would sod off and that they'd get someone who was actually good looking to fill the role of the philanderer!

:wah:

It was implied that he is bisexual when we met him in Dr. Who. He was romancing the girl first.

It looked like they were getting rid of Owen for a moment when he was going to abandon Torchwood in a disagreement over who's fault the rift was. The philanderer is best played by Jack. He's the one who's been alive long enough to have shut down his ability to care for anyone. The whole thing about having to watch the people he loves grow old and die while he stays young. I never bought Captain Kirk as a ladies man either. :)

I don't mind Owen as a character... he's just not sexy.

The last episode he seemed to disappear to the sound of the tardis. You don't think he is going to be the new assistant do you? Two blokes having a "relationship" would kill it off completely. I like to think I am broad minded but that would have me tuning out.

I thought the tardis' arrival was a response to Jack feeling lonely and that Dr. Who, one of his crushes, had arrived to lift his spirits. They wouldn't have Jack running away from Torchwood, I believed they've just signed for a second season.

Now this i definately agree with! ive been thinking the exact same thing all along ims

Yes it was extremely unlikely the 2 blokes kissing wouldnt of caused a mass riot but i still cried!! but then i get totally lost in the eps

When is my capt jack to return....anyone know??
