Today...we remember Elvis as it would have been his 71st birthday. Er...72? 1935!
I never got to see him but I have always been a big fan. Does anyone have any concert stories or tales to tell??

Oh Lordy, my mother was one of Elvis' biggest fans, so naturally she passed that on to me and my sister. No one has a voice like he did. I was trying to think of a favorite, but he has so many! I love "I can't help falling in love..." though, for sure! And all of his gospel music is excellant.

Anyone remember that black leather outfit he wore on a televised concert? THAT is the Elvis I'll always recall. HOOOOOOOOOOEEEEE!
(Fans herself.)

Lulu, that was in the 60's as a come back type of thing. He looked Great in that suit. When he sang "Memories".... I melted.
I saw him in 1972 (?) in Oakland. Great concert, though I felt he distanced himself from the crowd too much. I wanted more interaction. It was totally scripted. "You throw your cape here, you say that there, you sing that to this section..." that kind of thing. But at least I can say I saw him. It was b4 he got all fat and sloppy.
As for that "old" photo above... Naw, he still would be dying his hair and probably a horrible face lift that would've made him a laughing stock like Kenny Rogers.
IMO, Elvis is better left to our imaginations. Like Marilyn Monroe. We Want to think of them as they were.

Ha-my Elvis story.
My girlfriends and I went on a cruise to Bel Air one night. You know, just to check out the stars homes and all. Well, we cruised by Elvis' house, and looking longingly over the high fenced gate we decide to go souvenir hunting. I got his newspaper! Hey, we were teenage girls, and anything that belonged to the MAN was good enough for me. Especially since that was all I got, since the butler or someone stuck his head out the door and knew we were there. We skeedaddled over the fence real fast.

:wah:
I would have taken his paper too! As an adult even!
My friends went to Graceland and brought me back one of those Elvis Presley Blvd street signs and at my request, a zippy bag full of leaves from Graceland's trees. I was more thrilled with the leaves!!
