The American Cancer Society has identified seven major warning signs of cancer:

* a change in bowel or bladder habits,

* a sore that does not heal,

* unusual bleeding or discharge,

* a lump in the breast or other parts of the body,

* chronic indigestion or difficulty in swallowing,

* obvious changes in a wart or mole, or

* persistent coughing or hoarseness.

Please remember that any or all of these can also mean non-cancerous conditions.

But it is important to check with your doctor.

And there are some cancers that one can have that yield no symptoms, like Prostate Cancer. Guys----If you are over 35----get a PSA test, even though most docs don't order one out until you are in your 50's. Sometime there are symptoms, but not always, and a digital rectal exam will not always pick it up.

I did, i've had a lot of trouble swallowing solid food for the past 3 week as i have the feeling of a restriction in my throat, accompanied with bile constantly in my throat & mouth.

I went to see the doc who has reccomended i have a Endoscopy asap (in national health terms about 2 week wait!)

At the moment i am only able to eat mushy food, ready brek, mashed bananas etc as food just refuses to go down at its normal speed :(

Thanks Val xxxx

The important thing to remember is DONT automatically assume you have cancer! So many other things have these same symptoms!

Abbey, dont be suprised at having a diagnosis of reflux. It's pretty common, especially if you've been under alot of stress. But I must also stress, if you have any of these symptoms, GO SEE YOUR DOCTOR!!!!

Even though the likelihood of it being a malignancy is small......the doc can still treat it and make it all better. :-6

AND NOT ALL CANCER IS MALIGNANT!!!

Most is benign. And all are treatable!

Most is benign. And all are treatable! if it's malignant, by definition it IS cancer. but Abbey Raven is correct, it can be reflux or any number of other things. please don't think the worst! and keep us informed when you see the doctor. i expect to be having tea with you when i get over there! :-4

Had my Gastroscopy this morning & don't mind telling y'all i was'nt looking forward to it!:yh_sweat

Thankfully it went well, it was reflux that had caused an infection ( Dr Bothwell yer a genius! )

Don't know if its just knowing that it was nothing serious, but i feel better already.

Bless the good old national health service! :rolleyes:
