Cooking help - has it gone off??

Post by Silence »

Ok so i am cooking some chicken and i don;t know if its off or not. it was frozen and i took it out the fridge to thaw about a week ago. it's chicken breasts. I am roasting it at the moment but i won;t eat it if you think it will kill me ;-p

I don't trust week-old chicken. Did you sniff it before you started to cook it? Did it seem fresh? I don't know...I'd be afraid to try it.

If you took it out of the freezer and moved it to the fridge it's probably ok.

If you took it from the freezer and just thawed it on the counter, throw it out!!

I wouldn't eat chicken that was thawed out a week ago, food poisoning is very very unpleasant, I advise you throw it out, its only a few quids (bucks) worth of chicken anyway.

I think its for the best, better that than a week on the bog! I got food poisoning once, oh dear, it was about the sickest I have ever felt without actually being in hospital.

I've done similar and lived to tell the tale, you'll know when it's cooked if it's "off " or not.

If I had enough doubt that I had to ask on a forum, I'd throw it out.

Do not eat chicken that has been left out for that long, you will get sick.
