Sorry, it was a weak trolling comp. Last years was better.

I mean, wtf? Dog eating? Best note to use for coke?

I think the best was the autism marrage thing.

Good luck @ your garden.

Magnus, thank your friends from us, it was enlivening. We almost managed to get through it without using the word "troll" once here. A few more experiences and the ones who let it slip might learn to be more inventive.

Two points, if I may. Firstly, the "30 Guests" in each thread as it's going on is a bit of a giveaway that you've a boardful of observers trailing alongside you. Secondly (and you know full well we're not the sort to raid back), I'd love to know where you all came from.

Those of you who registered and played are obviously welcome to drop in on those accounts and say hi any time you feel inclined. The more crosslinking the Internet gets the better, in my opinion.

I seem to recall the word "troll" came up quite often. Annoyingly so.

We did seem to recover a couple of threads into the semblance of conversation.

I do agree on the needing more practice bit.

A troll is a troll is a troll....add incredibly rude and childish to that.

A troll is someone who performs TROLLISH behavior, regardless of which forum they choose. If someone IS a troll, they may be CALLED a troll, particularly if they're a SELF-ADMITTED one.

Sheesh!

For example: An "Internet troll" or "Forum Troll" is a person who posts outrageous message to bait people to answer. Forum Troll delights in sowing discord on the forums. A troll is someone who inspires flaming rhetoric, someone who is purposely provoking and pulling people into flaming discussion. Flaming discussions usually end with name calling and a flame war.

(We've seen quite a bit of this behavior on the FG board lately, much of it from well-known members.)

In addition: A classic troll is trying to make us believe that he is a skeptic. He is divisive and argumentative with need-to-be-right attitude, "searching for the truth", flaming discussion, and sometimes insulting people or provoking people to insult him. Troll is usually an expert in reusing the same words of its opponents and in turning it against them.

While he tries to present himself as a skeptic looking for truth ... his messages usually sound as if it is the responsibility of other forum members to provide evidence that what forum is all about is legitimate science.

I think we coped on after about 3 threads to be fair to us though, though some slipped through the net lower down, like that one about Americans, thats still going, and there are a few science ones, flipping trolls, pathetic gits.

Oh, People. Be gentle with those kids, please. Imagine how unfulfilled and dull their little existence must be if the best way they can find, in school hols, to amuse themselves is to wander about the internet wasting everybody's time, and not even doing it very well. With a bunch of similarly silly mates sort of lurking in the wings, sniggering. I hope that, for Christmas/ Channuka / kwanzaa / Whatever Santa Claus brings them a life.

If the baiter gets called a troll rather than have his posts turned around into an interesting discussion then it's a win. Why make it that easy?
