Wow.

congratulations? ! ?

best cure for hiccups is to hold your two forefingers apart and slowly move them together. Concentrate on moving slowly and getting them as close together as possible without touching. Really focus on avoiding the moment when the two fingertips touch whilst maintaining motion.

By the time they touch, the hiccups will likely be gone.

bend over with the cup of water and drink it upside down between your legs.

at worst, you'll be so annoyed with water running out your nose that you'll forget about the hiccups.

Hiccups result from your lungs becoming out of sync with your diaphragm - (the bit that helps your lungs expand properly) so you have to get it back in sync. Best way I've found is to get your fore-and middle-fingers and press quite hard for a couple of minutes into the gap underneath your breastbone... sounds weird but works every time for me!

...but I'm no physiologist, this is just what I was told so if there's a doctor in the house and I'm wrong, don't shout at me! ;)

Nope never. I sometimes get this cough that I can't get rid of, but that's about it, no hiccups to date.

Well ok, maybe when I was very young, but at least not in the last 15 or so years. My brother gets it a lot though, and I'll be honest I am pretty mean, because I just giggle away whilst he has them. I suppose that will come back to haunt me one day though! :wah:

When I get hiccups I get them so hard that they actually hurt, especially if I don't let them out.

Imagine me sat at work, in the public area of a bank, with the loudest hiccups known to man and either letting them out and having all the customers look at me or holding them in and going 'ouch' every few seconds and having all the customers look at me!! No competition really - let them out, be loud , be proud!!

(The bank was so pleased when I left!!)

Swallow a tablespoon of peanut butter. It stretches your esophocus and stops the hiccups.

I swear it works. I tried everything but when I tried this it was amazing.

But, I don't suggest you do this after drinking. It's really gross and sweets and alcohol don't mix. But throwing up is also a good way to get rid of them! :wah:
When choosing between two evils, I always like to take the one I've never tried before.
