Whenever I get asked about my marriage the first questions are
1) Why did you get married and
2) Why did you get divorced.
I've found really good answers to these questions but the answers are different each time. All the different answers are true.
Why do you think relationships fail?
Failed Relationships
Failed Relationships
I had an 7 year relationship that ended, but I still don't say that it failed, because I learned so much about it.
there are a million reasons why relationships fail, but I would say these are the most common 3
1 - Lack of communication
2 - Different types of people, not bending to meet each other half way
3 - different goals.

Failed Relationships
My answer to those people would have been "none of your business".
But I think mostly relationships fail because two people reach two different life stages and grow different ways...

The more times I thought about it the more the subtle answers revealed themselves. I agree that a failed relationship does not mean a waste of time. My ex and I are better friends now then we ever were.

I don't mind the question. If it helps someone else make sense of the dynamics then it's good. It helps me make a bit more sense of it all every time I answer.
I like your use of the word "stages". I think we meet people when we need them.

i got married because i was in love............sickening
got divorced because we had different morals, values, wanted different things out of life, different friends, in hindsight, we were never really compatible. .........

I think equality and power struggles lend to disintegration as well.
When one person starts to feel weak or threatened then all sorts of problems will result from backlash reactions unless they work out the reason for their insecurity.
