is it ever okay to just eat the middle of bread? I often pull off pieces of the bread so that I can just get at the soft inside part. I usually just throw the rest out but I feel kind of guilty.

Save the edges..dry them out, and you can crush them up into bread crumbs.

I love fresh made french bread - We went to Paris and noticed everyone walking around with fresh bread. So, we got in a habit of having fresh bread and shopping around - just pulling the bread apart. I love starches..

I'm going to start smoking crack.

In Texas they're raising the tax on cigarettes, a dollar a pack!

I figure crack will be less expensive. :wah:

Thats every state - its a government increase - isn't it??

Crack would probably be cheaper - a pack of cigs will be nearly $8.00..

Amazing - I remember going to the store with a note to buy a pack for my mom probably @ .75 or 1.10 a pack..

In Ontario a pack will usually run you about ten bucks... I remember it being $3.50 ten years ago. Thank god I stopped smoking in February.

I tried quitting yesterday...didn't work...a stressful situation happened and 2 packs later...still stressed and still smoking!!

Prices are cheaper here than North, don't know if they get cheaper the further south you go or not. Mine are VERY expensive, cause smoke all natural ones with no chemicals..a healthy cigarette....:wah:

Anyone ever have a confrontation with a really obnoxious anti-smoker?

You know, the kind who make you want to smoke a whole pack right in their face? :sneaky:

Funny you should ask...just recently I met a person in RL from the interent, he lives across the country, so knew it wasn't going to amount to anything...but to be nice agreed to have an innocent lunch while he was here on business.....he proceeded to TELL me how HE can get me to stop smoking and I BETTER STOP....and that I NEED to date someone that will MAKE me stop smoking...and proceeded to tell me how UGLY I'm going to be if I continue....so YES, I wanted to light one, two or five cigarettes RIGHT THEN and have no where else to blow the smoke but in his FACE!!

Needless to say, he doesn't contact me anymore!hmmmm

It's nice they want to be helpful but it has such the opposite effect. On me anyway.

just like Seinfield.

as unlikely as it is for anything to come of nothing, somehow it represents life better than something. by the end of this thread about nothing, something will have been accomplished but no one can know what that will be until the end. And even then we will wonder.

The real problem, Koan, is going to be recognising the end of this thread about nothing

- so we can know with certainty whether it has actually accomplished anything and suss out what that something might be, with or without wonder.

Are we there yet?

Pam enters, gazes around to see if Marie's predicition has come true - that the thread about nothing has somehow transmogrified itself into a thread about something, suddenly has a coughing fit, staggers over to the window, throws it open, breathes deeply... ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Some of my best friends are smokers, Gups, so no problemo. :D

I used to be partial to those black Russian sobranie ciggies, but it was either them or my flute eventually. Couldn't do both. The flute won. (Bonus - I can now run up stairs - if that should ever become totally absolutely necessary.. :sneaky: )
