Yep,

Then all you would have to worry about would be the poisonous creepy crawlers...

...

Oh,

and you might want to stay away from the bugs, and insects and things too.

i don't much mind them either...

I just happen to mind when they are poisinious enough to leave a welt the size of a softball wherever they wish to leave their teeth marks...

That and I hate snakes...

And if it's one thing I know about Australia, they have a wide variety of poisonous snakes...

The taipan? Forgettaboutit...

I would have to unload a 12 gauge shotgun on one of those S.O.B's.

Here in Ohio you may occasionally come across a rattler, but thats only more so in the south part of Ohio...

As for anything else, Ohio is relatively safe...

You may see a bear in the southern part, but that would be extremely rare.

We have water moccasins around here, but they are relatively scarce too...

I think I may have been thinking of the black mamba...

I always confuse the Black Mamba with the Taipan...Unless they are the same snake...

All I know is, is that Australia is bad for poisonous snakes...

I wouldn't want to cross a Taipan anyway...

I think I still might unload a 12 gauge on one...

Don't know what it is, but I can't trust snakes.

I believe the Black Mamba has been known to chase people too...again if they are the same snake I apologize...

But just the knowledge of knowing where they frequent would be enough for me to have to sacrifice a little diving myself.

I would not like to be near enough to a Black Mamba to identify it. I saw a special on tv about a man wating for his herd of cattle to come in and finally he went to look for them and all 11 had been bitten by a Black Mamba. They can move really fast and are aggressive. Their mouth appears black inside the lips. And they can strike a long distance compared to their length.

We dont have many poison kinds here. Four. And here in the heartland we never see a coral which is one of them. But we see lots of copperheads and rattlers. Steve Irwin came here once and handled rattlers and he said they were not very mean. Copperheads are so camogauged they are hard to see. I knew several people here personally that go bit by them. None died. They can be anywhere but almost always around wild fruit thickets. They come to eat the small critters that eat the fruit. And they bite people there too.

G'day Okie, Diuretic!! I'm not all that keen on snakes. Used to hear a rustle in the bush and just turn tail and run. Haven't encountered many. Yes, the bushfire season has started with a vengeance. Nothing round where I am at the moment, but my sister's partner who lives in the Blue Mountains outside Sydney got close to having to run for it a couple of weeks ago. They're okay. Victoria is having some bad fires.

(((((((((((Pam)))))))))))) Hey there! I once had a friend who took his son fishing and the boy got bit by a copperhead. He rushed him into town and they would not treat him until they saw the snake. He had to go back out and get the snake. I guess he was lucky he killed it.

Gonna be a nice day here. A bit cool but sunny. I cant decide what to make for brekkers. I got margarita mix for the holidays. Need to pick up a bottle of tequila.

Snake antivenene is a mega toughly strong chemical mix, Okie. Very dangerous if you administer the wrong one. Hence the insistence on identifying the snake. The bloke I told you about here who got the five death adder bites has been told to stay the heck out of anywhere he can get bitten again, as he's had more than a lifetime's dose of antivenene and any more will kill him in its own right. Grin.

Wow. I didnt know that. We have a man here who is the head of herpatolgy I think at our Zoo. Bob Jenny who has been bitten many times. He goes around to visit schools and such showing snakes. I took Dustin to one at the Multiplex. Jenny had a huge snake in a garbage can and none of us knew it til he dumped it out. He let the kids pet it. I didnt.

My sister has a soft spot for snakes, as you know, Okie. The Macquarie university pet python, Olive, would only speak to her!! But I reckon I'd rather leave them alone. Took Dieter to the Sydney zoo yesterday. He didn't care for the Kodiak bear. Thought it was scary. !!!!!! GEESCH - it looked at us like we were dinner!!! Saw some kind of dragon lizard.. about eight feet long and narsty. Dieter thought it was a dinosaur, and he was not far wrong. Kathy's around somewhere, or was yesterday.

Dustin was or is very fond of snakes and lizards. I heard him tell a friend that first inportance was his wife and kids and second was his pets and he was number three. He has lizards a nd snakes and turtles. Well I should say he had a huge snake and it got out of its cage while he was gone and we could not find it and it died. When he was still in Florida he caught a gator and held it a bit and let his boy pet it. Then let it go.

Dustin is unusual, I reckon, in this regard, Okie!!! I loved the zoo, Chonsi. I think really I never grew up.. I love Christmas, I love firework displays, I love the zoo. And you're right, Pants, it was a Kokoda dragon. Are you okay (the very sad bit????) ?

i used to hate zoo's as i felt it was unfair to keep the animals caged but now so many animals are becoming extinct i thought yesterday if only they had one of those dolphins in captivity er hang on two dolphins one of each sex in captivity they could of bred them till mankind learnt to look after the planet then re introduce them :(

Zoos ain't what they used to be, jimbo. A lot of the animals are now in international breeding and conservation programs. And the beautiful sea eagle we saw had lost most of one foot in a steel fish trap and wouldn't survive in the wild.

WOW, MrsK.. I've never been to that one, heard many tales though.

I happened to see a cat squatting to poo on our front lawn yesterday, it ignored me when I banged on the window so I opened the door and shouted at it 'Go away' .......then I looked up and over the road was a Policeman talking to a neighbour!

I soo hope he didn't think I'm the local nut!
