Well, let's think this one out. You may have freedom to smoke but by smoking you are a slave to the tobacco companies and the government who supports them. Is that the kind of freedom you want?

Sure, if you like that cancer, lungs filled with charred uncontrollable growth, you're gonna die in 30 years, yeah.

If you're looking for the "freedom" to destroy your health and endanger/sicken those around you---then, sure! You're FREE!

Freeforall, how about you tell us why you think smoking reaffirms your freedom anyway? I for one would like to know where you're coming from.

I'm not sure I see the connection because most likely you're addicted to nicotine and that alone would cancel out your freedom.

I am a smoker. I don't enjoy it...I am just addicted to the nicotine.

My belief is that it is BAD for mental health ...it makes you dependant, it rules your life. I t also restricts the blood flow to the brain (and other parts) and therefore can affect memory and other functions of the brain.

I am constantly anxious about the other bad affects to my body that could cause strokes, heart attacks etc. This anxiety can't be good for a persons mental health,

At one point I thought I'd go for the record on how many times a person can quit smoking. I did it daily. Succeeded twice if you count lasting for more than three months.

Last time I started again it was because it was "grounding". I became insomniac and it helped me calm down and get to sleep. There is something really earthy about it. I wouldn't call it freedom though.

I attended a stop smoking clinic in Aberdeen and have never had the urge to look at another cigarette since don’t know how you do it but it amazed me, my friends and family.I have no need for cigarettes. I am no longer a slave to an addiction.

I smoked for nearly thirty years. I smoked because I liked it...liked the taste, liked the buzz, liked everything about it except the hackers cough. But the fact is I was also addicted to the nicotine. Never really got that til I tried to quit, and it was not until I had quit for about six months that I really understood that. So my opinion would be the opposite...you are not reaffirming your freedom, you are embracing your enslavement. If you want to keep smoking just to spite the antismokers, I can sure understand that, but you are also hurting yourself. If you are okay with all that, then go for it. I can tell you that quitting is the hardest thing you are likely ever to do. It will definitely not be pleasant, and there will be suffering. Smoking is easy...quitting ain't! If you do, you will feel better, have a lot more spending money, and maybe live longer. Its all up to you which way your life goes.
