Anything RANDOM Goes Here!!

Post by Imladris »

I saw my mum last night and the first thing she did was mess with my hair and tell me it's too flat!!

I told that I don't live in the eighties any more and 'big hair' isn't in.

Bah! Mothers!!

That was after my dear husband had subtly hinted that I wasn't dressed smart enough to go to the pub for a meal - it was a pub for crying out loud!

Bah! Husbands!!

So I asked my dad what he'd like to criticise - my personality - he said what personality.

Bah! Dads!!

It's no wonder I have a persecution complex:wah:

Random thought of the day:

aerotechnical research has shown that due to the size and shape of thier bodies, in relation to thier wingspan, bumble bees cannot fly.

But the bumblebees do not know this, so they go ahead and fly anyway.

Moral of the story: Do not give up because someone told you you cannot do something Go out and prove them wrong.

Just got back from an aunt's funeral. She'd suffered long with that bone deteriorating disease, which name I can't remember, and emphazema. She's better now. :yh_flower

I saw cousins I haven't seen in 30 years or more. Most looked exactly like older versions of the kids I knew, but one held no resemblance whatsoever. It was strange talking to her, because we shared some very early memories, but she had a different face, voice, everything.

I know what you mean by cousins. A few years back I met a cousin for what I thought was the first time, till our moms started in how we took baths together when we were little. :o

You know you can buy instant grits how dont you. I do like grits with butter and salt but I like fried corn meal mush better. I make it at night and put in in the fridge then slice it and fry it to have with eggs.

You boil some water with salt in it and slowly add cornmeal until it gets a little thick then cook it down til its hard to stir. Its fast really. Pour or scoop it into a loaf pan and put it in the fridge. I have sliced it and rolled in flour prior to frying but you can just fry it with no flour too. When its brown on the outside its done. I slice it about 1/2 inch thick but you can make it thinner if you like.

It dont taste like cornbread to me but you can decide.

Probably. I never had pollenta. I grew up eating mush. We sometimes had hot mush for supper and if we didnt eat it all we got it for breakfast. I liked it with eggs better than by itself. Granny made something she called scrapple which was like mush with meat scraps in it and some red pepper I think.

I wanna say its very similiar, but not sure.

My grandma never made the corn mush, but she would crumble cornbread in a glass then pour buttermilk over it. Yea I still dry heave at the thought of that.

I tried instant grits one time, and I have to say, I wasn't overly impressed...

They were sort of bland, and to be quite honest, I didn't find them to be much different than that of regular rice.

Yeah. Grits are ground up white corn hominy. Hominy is corn washed in lye water to remove the outside of the kernel I think. Corn meal has the whole thing in it just ground up. A bit tastier. But if you use pepper and salt and butter it has flavor.

I just returned a beautiful golden retriever to his owner, since he thought it'd be more fun to see what's under my flower bed than stay in his own yard. He was filthy and stank! How do you not bathe a water dog??

I have ate it that way. Not a favorite. But many here eat chocolate gravy. On cantelope too! Argh. Sounds gross. I think I like salty stuff better than sweet, not so say I wont eat fudge or peanut brittle. But I like spicy better.

My bank has an ATM last row away from building and I was waiting for a car in front of me to go and a woman walked up from the side and used it. She parked near it and walked up ahead of me.

I think it is interesting sometimes. Like when its Winter here and we get 8 inches of snow we are at a standstill. But a friend in New York loves to see the first snow come and they get 24 inches at a times sometimes. * inches is terrible here. I like hot weather pretty well so I guess I am where I belong. But I wonder why some people stay where they are when its so terrible. But then we have brown dry grass most of the summer. One might like to know how it is so if they want to move they have an idea.
