Ever meet someone you absolutely just can't seem to "like"?

Our accountant is just that person. She was here before me, she comes in only 2 days a week max. She first started out taking over my desk and I had to shift desks each day she was in. I was put out. Then we solved that and she has her own desk, but she comes in and continues to be around my desk endlessly, never takes all her files to her desk, nooooooooooooo has to come here every single time to be in my files. She waltzes into the supers office and jumps on her computer and to top it all off she is not all that good at her job.

I try soooooooooo hard to let that go and like her, but then she starts to pass her work on to me, and have me manage things I am not even trained in. Ok I am flexible but some days I do NOT have the time to do her work.

I talk nice to her, I greet her every day nicely and try within me to not let it show I just can't stand her.

She sincerly irritates the sh** out of me and I am genuinely a nice and easy going person. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr it is almost like I enjoy disliking her.

Anyone every feel that about a person? I feel I am being unfair but it has been 5 months and I can't do it.

Know-it-alls and nosy people drive me crazy in the same way. I work around a few and its just horrible some days. I'm a dispatcher and your stuck in a room for 8 or 12 hours with this person, ready to just freak out at any minute. Your doing a lot better than I would be. I tend to get short and sarcastic with the folks who drive me nuts.

Some would probably say to talk it out with her, tell her what drives you nuts, and if it doesn't resolve the problems, atleast you tried and she knows how you feel. Being the one to initiate that conversation would be hard, atleast for me.

Maybe she's a master teacher in patience and tolerance, and is just trying to teach you a lesson :)
I probably posted that in an ambien trance-soryy

Problem with telling her what drives you nuts is then she knows what

pushes your buttons and might become worse!

I think if you can just continue to try and live with it, maybe it will get

better after a partition goes in. I sure hope so, this is a lot for you to

deal with!!

Vals right, don't let her know what bothers you! Over the many years that I worked, I found it very effective to talk about problems to the person involved "in the third party". (Others) Like did you hear mgmt has said we are leaving our folders all over the place, or mentioned that people are using PC's that are non-assigned to them. Tell her what bothers "you" but put the blame anonymously on some hearsay. This seniaro worked well for me for years!!! ;)

I feel your pain. The diva in my office gives me the same feelings. Just try to have a sense of humor, and do your job the best you can. Sometimes, you may have to take that "sudden coffee break" and leave the office for a few minutes.

Co-workers don't necessarily have to be your best friends....you're there to do a job.

I know I don't hear somebody singing "Kumbya"! :guitarist

I thought that one of the standards of any job was that you have at least one person that you don't like because they drive you nuts?

I used to work in the film industry. Need I say more?

Recently my coworker and I were completely bored and dissatisfied. We suddenly realised that we hadn't completely picked anyone apart for a few days. We found a target and...problem solved. There's always some sorry sod to fill the void. :wah:

Geeze Rave I knew there was a reason why I loved you like a sister :)

I think today is a good day to keep clear of the general populations as all my minions have pissed me off to the extent of wanting to pull their innards out through their nostrils. It seems to have been the week for those lesser than I to come forward and test my tolerances. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Sorry to hear about your torture, Minks! :-1

I am very easy going and have only had one person in my life that I couldn't get along with, she was a teacher that started the Academy with me a few years ago.

She was completely gross. She ate food all day and got it everywhere, they had to rebuild her computer twice because she spilled coke on it. She had a microwave that she cooked stuff in and never cleaned it, it was truly disgusting. Add to this the fact that she had ten dogs that slept with her, she constantly smelled like dog urine and feces, and she rarely bathed, and you have a good idea what it was like to work with her.

Worse yet, she was abusive to the kids, insulting them and telling them negative things all day long. Belittling them and making fun of them if they didn't succeed. The worst kind of teacher. Then one day she started to throw in a little religion in her lesson plans. Stuff like, "Let's all agree that everyone in this class is a sinner and that Satan has ahold of all of you..." Just the kind of thing you should say to troubled teens...Sheesh!

If you have time and want some fun reading, here''s some of the documentation I had to do on her: (I've deleted all the names to make it releasable)

Documentation: Conduct by ********

This paper is to document the various dealings I have had with *****over the course of the years. I am beginning this document on 6/26/03. This documentation is necessary due to the behavior displayed by **** in the course of her work.

**** displays a reluctance to participate in team decisions and argues constantly with the rest of the teachers. She expresses negative attitudes over almost every idea put forth, but rarely offers solutions of her own. Any attempt to assist, encourage, or offer suggestion are considered criticism and are rejected.

Previous Incidents:

During the last week of school. Several groups of students approached me concerning the smell and mess in her room. ***** has stacks of trash, empty food boxes and various other papers piled upon every horizontal surface in the room. Including areas assigned to ********, who shares the room. They stated that “It was hard to learn in there, it stinks.” and “ The room makes me feel bad and depressed because it is so messy.”

**** complained to me multiple times that “I really don’t like it that **** puts her messes in my space, making me clean up after her.”

The mess was so bad that it impacted the learning ability of the students. It was necessary for both ****** and myself to completely clean and disinfect the room. Multiple health and safety issues were found during this process. (For further documentation see ***** OSHA safety report detailing her use of multiple extension cords and a heavy refrigerator placed high on a cabinet.)

In addition, ***** was marked down on her professional evaluation for the same problem. (which she never corrected.)

***had a tendency to introduce religion into her lessons. She stated that she heard **** talk about “Satan” with her students and put forth the statement to the class that “ We all agree that there is a Satan on this Earth and you are in his control.”

This kind of discussion is expressly forbidden by the separation of church and state laws and the class included at least one non-Christian. (Hindu)

3. I personally delegated the role of official note-taker for the team to****. She has consistently had difficulty keeping these accountability notes in a timely fashion (see Fall 2002-2003 notes for lack of consistent dating.)

4. I confronted *** with the information in the previous paragraphs. her answer was “I am not capable of cleaning up after myself due to health issues.” **** and I resolved to clean up after her, although there was a discussion concerning the lack of her responsibility for her own actions.

5. During the course of the year, she completely lost control of classes on several occasions. I had to come to her classroom several times to restore control. On one instance, she wrote up nearly an entire class. (See documentation by ****) The students vandalized her property, stole her property, and destroyed school property in her room in retaliation for her behavior towards them.

6. ***** approached me and stated that **** had called her “stupid” I asked ***** if this was true and she admitted using that language. **** was severely affected and her performance dropped drastically.

7. Several students were found hiding behind a portable. These included a very good student named *****. They all stated that they did not want to go to Ms.****** class because, “She treats us like her dogs and she calls us stupid.”

Monday: 06/23/03

Notes from last week are still not in the computer. I asked if she had finished these. she replied “I haven’t had the time.” Despite the fact the notes were in her possession since the end of the school day Thursday.

Thursday: 06/26/03

***** complained to me today that “****** bosses me around. She is rude, she as no social or people skills. I was busy entering data and she interrupted me rudely and ordered me to do secretarial work. She never says please or even attempts to be polite.” **** job description specifically forbids using him for secretarial duties. This was expressly stated at the original meeting. **** was present at this meeting.

****** did not attend the staff meeting today, although she is in charge of the note-taking process. When I asked her about the notes from last week. She stated that she had done them and showed me a document that was supposedly the notes. When I opened it later, it was only a student list made by ********.

Wednesday: 7/9

Two kids were found ditching ******* class this morning by *****. When **** asked the students why they were ditching, they replied “*****treats us like little children”, “She always talks down to us.”, and “I’d rather die than go to her class”. Since this is beginning only three weeks onto the summer program, I talked to ****** and suggested that she reexamine some of her classroom management techniques. She denied that there was any problem, despite the fact that four kids were lost from her class that day, two for discipline, and two ditching. None of the other teachers had any problems that day.

Tuesday: 9/2/03

*******missed school today. This was especially critical, since she was the primary expert needed to host a 504 meeting for *******. In addition, earlier this week she misinformed ****, the head registrar at FHS concerning the As400 status of students in our school.

Not only did she not have the correct information, ****** specifically asked for all communications with admin staff to be approved due to a communications problems last year. She did not follow this directive.

Today was progress report day. Our highest priority was to get these reports out. I filled out all of mine and then filled in the header of the rest for ****, since she admitted “people can’t read my handwriting”. Despite having to only fill out the grade and sign it for 25 kids, ****did not manage to complete this task.

When I asked her why she could not complete it, she replied “there wasn’t enough time.” despite the fact that she had all reports in her possession for an hour and a half. According to ****, she “blew it off until ten minutes to the end of class.”

I asked ****** why an hour and a half was not enough time and she replied, “I had too much trouble with classroom discipline.”

As per his instructions, I informed ***** of the problem.

Tuesday 12/02/03:

I asked *****if she had managed to complete the progress reports yet. From the look on her face I could tell that she had completely forgotten this duty. Students complained today concerning the smell in her room and the condition of the microwave

in her room.

Monday - after Thanksgiving break. ***** still had not filled out all the progress reports today. Some of the students did not receive one for this quarter.

This morning, ***** stated publicly in front of the class that the students had told her that Mr. **** had taught them to do an activity wrong.

Mr. ***** replied that he had instructed the kids in front of her, exactly the way that she had instructed the kids. He was upset not only because he could not understand what he had done wrong, but also because she reprimanded him in front of the children. Mr. ****** told me later that he felt she had humiliated him and that he “wished she would not treat him like that in front of the children.”

Over a year ago, I gave both **** and Ms. ***, a binder for a set of emergency lesson plans. At that time I instructed them both to put a set of generic lesson plans for a week, in the case of an emergency. I checked a week later, Ms. ****had performed this duty, but *** had not. I checked again a month later, ***** had still not completed this task.

Close to a year later, I again reminded Ms. *****that this would be critical since there are only two teachers at the academy now. She agreed that this needed to be done and promised me “ I will do it right away.”

The very next week, **** was absent for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. There were no lesson plans for the students for any of these days. **** witnesses this, on each separate occasion.

I was forced to improvise on each of those days for the substitute teacher. **** stated that her behavior was “unacceptable” and he put a formal reprimand in her file.

Two weeks before Christmas, ***** did not show up to school on time. She arrived at 8:30 AM. Her excuse was that “She had fallen asleep.”

Thursday 1/8/04:

Today Ms. **** was absent for the parent teacher conference that she specifically requested on *****.

In addition, many of the students have begun to ask “Is Ms. ****?” at the beginning of each period. when I reply yes, they express extreme dissatisfaction. I have repeatedly stated to them that I will not allow any negative comments towards any teacher in my presence, but it is getting harder every day to fend off their negative comments.

Tuesday, 1/13/04:

Today Ms. **** is late. It is 9:00 am and it is time for us to change classes, but she still has not shown up. I had to send a mesenger to the office to find out where she was. They said that she would be here “soon”.

today was her day to run the study skills period so **** and I were forced to improvise a lesson at the last moment.

**** asked, “Is Ms.****** here?” I told him that she would be here soon, he answered, “Damn, I hate going to that class.” I told him that he cannot speak about other teachers that way in my presence.

He then replied, “How come she tells us to be on time, and then she doesn’t show up herself?” I had no answer for that.

Wednesday January 21st:

Today **** missed a sceduled meeting to describe an upcoming field trip to Albuquerque. Her excuse was “I’m not used to morning meetings.”

Ms. **** came today for an inpromptu conference. While I was discussing ****’s recent suspension, Ms. **** indicated Ms. **** and asked***, “Is that the teacher that ignores you?” **** indicated that it was. she replied, “Yes, when I ask a question, she just goes right by me and helps the other kids.” I asked if this was a single incident or a pattern and **** indicated a pattern. the mother was upset, so I advised her to arrange a conference with **** to discuss this matter.

I overheard ***** saying loudly to the class, “I’m just going to goof off in Ms. **** class like I always do.”

It goes on like this for nine more pages. (sigh) She finally got fired.

I changed jobs at the begining of the year only to discover my new boss is a nightmare.

If she would just talked to me as an adult I may gain respect for her but her tone of voice makes me feel like doggy poop. Seems the entire office has the same problem with her. As soon as she speaks to me I automatically feel like punching her and I'm not a violent person. If fact I would pobably class myself as intovert.

I have never had feeling like this about anyone before. It scares me.
