Does this mean I can take over your flat while you're gone?

Looking at the world
Through the sunset in your eyes
Trying to make the train
Through clear Moroccan skies
Ducks and pigs and chickens call
Animal carpet wall to wall
American ladies five foot tall in blue.
Sweeping cobwebs from the edges of my mind
Had to get away to see what we could find
Hope the days that lie ahead
Bring us back to where they've led
Listen not to what's been said to you
Would you know we're riding
on the Marrakesh Express
Would you know we're riding

All on board that train

Thanks for all your good wishes.
We had an interesting time exploring the delights of the old town and a hectic living it is too. The poverty and overcrowding are opressive and the pace of life is neverending so we were glad to be staying in the new town.
Start and end of the week were spent down on the coast (a four hour bus ride) for a touch of R&R - needed as we both picked up a dose of Dehli Belly from an injudicious Tajine in one of the Souks (which made the bus ride back a little more exciting than I'd like).
All in all a well needed break from work.

We got back last night so I'm now back in harness with nose to the grindstone.
If I work out how to shrink the full resolution photo's there's some pretty ones I could load but those were the pics where I dropped to 640/480 to snap some small files.

They made the offer but the damned things were wild - so were the Moroccans after they realised what they'd bought. Ended up back where we started :yh_frustr

The food went from the ever present cous-cous and tajines through wonderful seafood to the best in French cooking. There were the occasional McDonald's and Pitza Hut but only in the tourist areas and then sparsely used.
Best meal was a Fillet Boeuf Roquefort in a seafront cafe at Adagir whilst the worst was an indescribable mess in the hotel in Marrakesh that cost more than twice the price. The fresh fruit juice was unforgettable and the fated dose was a chicken stew in the square of the metalworkers (3 days in the recovering from).
Lasting impression will be of smiling faces with outstretched palms - the locals fell over themselves to "help" you before demanding their pieces of silver. The going rate appears to be £1 per person per photograph, £1.50 per person per direction, £6 per introduction etc and damned if you could get rid without upset.
To do it justice we would have needed a month - both to get used to their ways and to see all we wanted to. We missed the High Atlas but we got hints of the true country when we stopped off the beaten track in a Berber town and saw a glimpse of their life without tourists - we walked around a market looking at goods without feeling forced into buying.
A week was nothing like long enough to do it justice but far too long to flit in and out. I would not be a tourist there again but I would like to backpack through in my own time.
Imagine Mexico as a day trip to Tijuana?
Imagine Tijuana after a year walking around Mexico!
That was my holiday, full of promise but ultimately unsatisfying.

Re: Temporary Fairwell
The damage from last night's earthquake is major, particularly in the walled town. There are collapsed buildings. It's worse though far less populated nearer the epicentre in the mountains to the south. It's distressing news from a very friendly part of the world.
Ighil, a mountainous area with small farming villages, is about 70km (40 miles) south-west of Marrakech. The quake struck just after 11pm.
In Marrakech, some houses in the tightly packed old city had collapsed and people were working by hand to remove debris while they waited for heavy equipment, resident Id Waaziz Hassan said.
