:D Yes, I will go to California next summer. The kids and I have already discussed it, we will save all year long for the big event. (it is the nursing expenses that cost the most)

I will wave over Utah! And hope more trips are planned in the future!

Oh, first child to be married, I am excited. But my son when he was here told me, he has a serious girlfriend. Ah, that makes moms happy.

Wow, chonsigirl!

My daughter probably will get married next october..

I would like to know how is an American marriage ceremony settled..

I mean, in Italy - generally speaking - the couple decides a day and then they are involved in so many actions, like to find a home, or establish one, choose and buy furnitures, choose a list of presents to be buyed by the relatives and friends, choose the restaurant for all the wedding attendants (this should be chosen at least one year before the ceremony..) select the wedding gown..

We have the habit to give confetti - that in Italy are sugared almonds - to all the people who will be present at the wedding and also to co-workers.

What about you ?

ciao

Well, my daughter has selected a very pretty place for the wedding and reception. It is an old Buddhist temple, that overlooks the valley below. So, we will have a very pretty place for the wedding and reception.

There are always lots of activites for weddings-showers, pre-wedding dinner, rehearsal, etc. We want to be there for it all.:)

It will be multi-cultural probably for the rectpion. Some Hispanic traditions thrown in, some American. I think I already have the gown to wear-I bought a very fancy gown to wear when I directed the Easter cantata, and chickened out of wearing it. It had a lovely drapped back, but I am modest. #2 daughter says Iwill wear it, it is lavendar and matches the colors perfectly, I just have to take it to be tailored to be a little slimmer in the waist. :-2 Don't ask me how I did it!

It will be one wedding where I will sit and have fun, she better not ask me to play the piano for it!

You can tell I am excited!:) It perked me up to see my son-I even got text messaging on my phone yesterday, so I could text them every day. We talk every weekend, but I miss them alot.

I agree.. I eaten a lot of them when I got married.. 27 years ago.. and my niece got an indigestion (correct?) and had to be admitted in the hospital..She came back just one week before the ceremony...

But I like the soooo much...

I always say: I don't care if you invite me or not, just let me hav a lot of confetti...

weddings-showers,

Beg your pardon, darling: what is this?

How may people will be there?

Generally italian weddings count abt 100-120 people - relatives, friends...

White gown for your daughter?

Do you have the habit to prepare a list of presents to be buyed by the wedding attendants?

My cousins wife wa sinto growing orchids for some time. She took them to shows and bought and sold them I was shocked how much some of the bulbs sell for. Green bulbs for $500. New breeds I guess. She has a gravel bed and a shade over it and water to flood the bed. That was in West Covina. Just up the hill from Robert Blake. Heeeeee.

Really. wow. We went there to visit and we went to some big place maybe a mausaleum with a huge mosaic on the front. And we went to a chapel in the flower garden all glass and very nice. Her son lived in Via Verde. By living there he was a memeber of that country club. Very nice. His back yard was small by our standards here in OK but over his back fence was a fairway.

Oh, he has a nice place in the small foothills there then. I know where you mean. My place is more modest-it is up right in the corner between Covina, Glendora and San Dimas. All my family lives there but one sister-and me. But my kids lives in my home there. You can look out the bedroom window, and see the San Gabriel Mountains.:)

My son is home there by now, he texted me he got back all right an hour ago.:-4

My cousins daughter and her family lived in Chino. they had a nice house but not so nice as Bruce in Via Verde. They had two story with inground pool but not much yard. My cousins wife has several houses out there but the huge one is in Desert Palms. Large green lawn with a koi pond etc. She told me they have problems there with a different kind of termites than we have . theirs fly and enter the attic and the house must be tented if they do and you have to vacate the place for three days. They broke her spanish tile roof and then still had termites after three weeks. I did hear of one house they did that to and blew it up.

Chino is very nice, the other side of the hills. Oh, such beautiful foothills they have there!

Termites-I never had any out there, but they do have to tent for days when you get them.

She was so mad. She had to sign a waiver for them to walk on her spanish tile roof and they broke a lot. And then all the mess to go away for three days and then to still have termites. Later on a friend or her daugter inlaw was looking ot buy a house and they were looking at one with exposed beams and she made sure they did no9t buy it.

Those pretty tiles would break easily, that is a shame. Yes, three days to live somewhere else, with the inconvenience and expense is horrible.

that better not happen for several more years! He's only 6!

What's bad though is he can't remember the girls name.

I still remember my first kiss. To me it was real but the girl was about 5 years older than me so it probably was just funny to her.

Springsteen was as cool as ever. Nils Lofgren made an appearance too. Ended up standing next to the Ginger twins from Harry Potter  , so Dan took a photo of Laura with them. Hardly a claim to fame is it? :wah:
