Hammer a Cork in their airway? OMG, i don't think medically that would happen. The tube is removed, the airway shuts down on its own? I never heard it put that way, and if this method is to be used i would just stuff the hole with a chunk of paper towel or something. :wah:

For God's Sake this case devouring all the news 24/7 is ridiculous. The poor woman should have died a decade ago. I hope the machines keeping her body alive are turned off tonight. Surely someone with a chance of recovery could use her room. I hope and pray no one ever does that to me. The selfishness of her parents, bankrolled by religious zealots is mindboggling.

If I starved an animal I would deserve a bullet. If I were on breathing machines, brain dead and splattered all over the media so callously for 15 YEARS! I would want a bullet! It is sad she lost her life so long ago. I could never do that to my kids no matter how much money I was offered to push the anti-euthanasia movement. Someday science may be able to save severely brain damaged and brain dead people. For now mercy and respect for the patient should be top priority.

SHE IS NOT ON A 'BREATHING MACHINE' (respirator) NOR WAS SHE! she is no different than any alzheimer's patient in a nursing home, who is being fed by a direct catheter to the stomach. think about the precedent here. thousands upon thousands of helpless elderly laying in nursing homes, not communicative, not really "with it". no heroic measures being taken, no respirators or even IVs...just being feed via liquids. should we withhold their nourishment and the essence of life, water? you know what, what would be the harm in her son of a bitch piece of **** selfish lying husband in letting her parents take her home to care for her? who would it hurt? i really want to know. who the hell would it hurt? if that were one of my kids i would love to see the armed cop at the door to her room search me and tell me i couldn't give her an ice chip. and i'm a cop! in fact if i were that cop, i'd give her the ice chip and they could fire my ass. then i'll answer to God. (PS this tirade not aimed at you personally, it's at the situation and the crime against humanity being committed).

I know you feel strongly about this so I won't argue. I believe she should be allowed to expire. I had a loved one who wasn't even brain damaged that was so sick for so long we wished we had the power as a family to let him go. Now a precedent has been set; the Government will make that decision for us.

yes adolf the housepainter set that precedent too. and feel free to argue with me! i am not angry at you personally, i am appalled at the callousness. i have had people i love die awful deaths also. i asked a doctor to give a little too much morphine to someone i loved very much. it was an entirely different situation. it was done and it was right and it was time. this woman is a political football right now. and she will die and then there will be gnashing of teeth and beating of breasts over her HOMICIDE.

Got it Skysation! You have the truth and this male doesn't know what he's talking about! Religious zealots using this woman to bankroll the anti-euthanasia movement is a crime. Every congressperson that used this case to further their careers should be ousted. I could never do that to my kids. I'm thankful the majority is ruling in this case and that Terri is close to expiring into peace. The fundamentalist militants will have to get off Terri's bed and find a new cause to exploit. Welcome to FG!

SCRAT...i respect your opinion, and i know millions of people on the planet are not receiving adequate health care. this thread topic is very narrow, about Terri. her parents taking charge of her care would not impact the ills of which you speak. i still consider it homicide. i have separated the endless news cycle debate from my own personal opinion. as far as her costs for being at home, visiting nurses are provided on a daily basis all over America. she needs bathing and nourishment delivered through the catheter, that's it.

I agree with LADYCOP on this. Terri is being starved to death. Don't believe for one minute that she isn't in pain she is in terrible pain. :-5

She is in a HOSPICE FACILITY. In that facility she is suppose to be made comfortable, given medication for the pain. Thus being allowed to die with DIGNITY. This is by no means a DIGNIFIED way to die. If this was her wish to not live this way, than so be it. She still should be give water, food, and medication even if the FEEDING TUBE IS NOT REINSERTED ALLOWING HER TO DIE PEACEFULLY.

THIS IS NOT HOW IT'S DONE PERIOD.. THIS IS WRONG, AND I AM SICKENED BY HOW SHE IS BEING TREATED. WE GIVE OUR PETS BETTER TREATMENT THAN SHE IS GETTING. :-1

This is mercy, not homocide. I agree it may be cruel because ot would be alot easier on all considered if she was givin something to hasten the passing. She does not feel pain now in the sense that we do. we really don't have any way of knowing that. i ask you this with all respect...could you deny a loved one water? that's all, my only question. i don't need to "win" this discussion/debate, all opinions are valid. but last night i was sitting with my son, who is 26, and he asked me the details of this matter, so i told him in as dispassionate a manner as possible, i wanted to hear what he would say. and as i looked at him i thought if he were laying in a bed in this condition could i bear him not receiving life-giving water, and it brought tears to my eyes. i could not. it would kill me to see him debilitated, but i could never let him die like a dog on the desert. of thirst. such a basic need. water. she's dying for lack of water, not anything else. we turn on a faucet, there is water, the giver of life. and we are denying it to her? i have never been particularly religious, but Jesus lover of my soul, Christ on the Cross was denied water. a sponge of salt was pressed to his lips. i can't believe i wrote that, i am not religious. something has touched my soul here. give her water. i would challenge anyone to wake up tomorrow and have no water or coffee or tea or anything. not for an hour, but for 24 hours. sorry, i am shocked at myself, i am usually the most cynical of the lot.

SCRAT,

I understand what your saying. It is time to let go. I guess I just don't see the MERCY in the way she is dying..She is a human being. She deserve comfort from her loved ones at this time, and what ever else it takes to guarantee she is pain free. She may not feel pain like your or I, but none the less it is still PAIN.. :-1

WATER WON'T SAVE HER LIFE, BUT IT WILL MAKE HER PASSING LESS PAINFUL.. IT IS A BASIC OF LIFE. HER SKIN IS STARTING TO FLAKE OFF FROM DEHYDRATION. MY GOD WHAT IS WRONG WITH US, THAT WATER CAN'T BE GIVEN TO A DYING HUMAN BEING.. :(

Disgusting.

Everybody is all about the "right to life". What about the right to die? It seems you can put your pet to sleep for a small fee and save it a lot of suffering.

If your a human you have to let the vultures pick your bones until CNN decides the ratings have gone down and all of a sudden everyone finds a "new" cause to self flaggilate about.

Give me a goddamn break. :-5

:-2

Just yesterday there was an appeal to overturn a juries decision because the jury instructions were supposedly misleading.............. :-2

So after a verdict and all, with the judge giving the jury instructions they overturn a decision.

But Michael can say she wanted this done to her after watching a movie.

This really boils down to a he said/she said in my mind.

The only problem is we can only hear what he said.

Scrat, believe it or not the people fighting for Terry are not there to get on CNN or in the circus. They believe she has the right to live or die. They just want her to make that choice not her estranged husband. And if there is just the slightest doubt she would want to live, then so be it. I believe there is doubt in that before he won all the lawsuits he was all for her rehab..........after he got money he started withdrawing her options for rehab.....then all the sudden he reveals she said she would not want to live like this........ :yh_neutra

Marshal Gregoriavich Zhukov. May 1943. The start of Operation Bagration when 3 million very pissed Russians went up against 400,000 Germans in the battle that pushed the Wehrmacht 400 miles to the Polish border in just 80 days.WHOO HOO--i LOVE history, let's go start a thread! here is my heroine~~ Queen Elizabeth l ~

This is the speech that she gave to her men at Tilbury, when the Armada was

sailing up the channel.

"My loving people, we have been persuaded by some that we are careful of our

safety, to take heed how we commit ourselves to armed multitudes for fear of

treachery; but, I do assure you, I do not desire to live to distrust my

faithful and loving people.

Let tyrants fear, I have always so behaved myself, that under God I have

placed my chiefest strength and safeguard in the loyal hearts and goodwill

of my subjects; and, therefore, I am come amongst you as you see at this

time, not for my recreation and disport, but being resolved, in the midst

and heat of battle, to live or die amongst you all - to lay down for my God,

and for my kingdoms, and for my people, my honour and my blood even in the

dust.

I know I have the body of a weak, feeble woman; but I have the heart and

stomach of a king - and of a king of England too, and think foul scorn that

Parma or Spain, or any prince of Europe, should dare to invade the borders

of my realm; to which, rather than any dishonour should grow by me, I myself

will take up arms - I myself will be your general, judge, and rewarder of

every one of your virtues in the field.

I know already, for your forwardness, you have deserved rewards and crowns,

and, we do assure you, on the word of a prince, they shall be duly paid you.

For the meantime, my Lieutenant-General Leicester shall be in my stead, than

whom never prince commanded a more noble or worthy subject; not doubting but

by your obedience to my General, by your concord in the camp, and your

valour in the field, we shall shortly have a famous victory over these

enemies of my God, of my kingdom and of my people."
