Hussein sentenced to death

Saddam Hussein was sentenced Sunday to death by hanging for his role in a brutal crackdown nearly 25 years ago in Dujail. A five-member tribunal is meeting amid heavy security and sweeping curfews in Baghdad and elsewhere, as authorities brace for violent reactions.

Wouldn't fancy being in Baghdad right now. All hell's gonna kick off I would imagine. Saw a report the other day which showed how different suburbs within the city have become partitioned depending on which is the prominent faction there. Looks grim.

I'm shocked. Here this thread has been here for over 2 hours and our loyal little team of Hussein apologists and Bush bashers haven't jumped on this?

Hussein should thank Allah that he's getting far better than he gave.

from what i understand there will be an automatic appeal. if the appeal is denied, they have 30 days to hang him. no loitering about for 15 years.

Haven't seen anybody apologising for Saddam Hussein, Bush bashing yes indeed, it's hard to resist the temptation.

An international court might have been better as with Milosovic. But since the US refuses to recognise the internatonal criminal court that wasn't going to happen was it. Better a pathetic prisoner living out his days that a dead martyr. Be interesting to see how the iraquis react.
