A hypothetical gathering of the FG members...

Post by BabyRider »

OK, here's something that just came to me...What do you see happening if we were all to meet for a big FG gathering? Here's what I see:

LadyCop, A Karenina and myself are huddled up, discussing how to organize the buffet lunch.

Tombstone, Bullet and Anastrophe are standing around talking about their guns. (LC is, of course, running back and forth to that conversation.)

Tmbsgrl is herding all the kids together and playing "Duck, Duck Goose" with them and her new hubby.

Koan and Kensloft are nowhere to be found...they've wandered off to make out under a tree somewhere.

Valerie and Rachelg are deep in conversation about their dogs, and I keep running back and forth to that conversation.

A previous member is tied to a tree, where we get to throw tomatoes at him. (Guess who that is...)

Weeder is sitting under a shady tree, surrounded by people listening to her wisdom and kind words.

DerWulf is busy flirting with all the ladies, boosting everyone's egos.

Someone take over.....

Very beautiful setting, but I couldn't help wondering where I fit in the great occassion. Maybe I'll be among the people sorrounding Weeder and listening to her wisdom and kind words. But I have a confession to make, while listening to Weeder, my mind will be with what LC, Karenina and BabyRider are preparing, wondering how soon the meal will be ready (yawn).
A formula for tact: "Be brief politely, be aggressive smilingly, be emphatic pleasantly, be positive diplomatically, be right graciously".

not bloody likely. i hardly ever talk about guns, except online, and in terms of guns rights.

i find guns themselves exceedingly boring. it's like talking about hammers. it's just a tool.

of course, the retort would be that *i'm* just a tool. not far off the mark, that.

I'd be running around from conversation to conversation. I like to talk - and I'll talk just about anything. :)

Koan and kensloft will require lots of sustenance for the... er... um... sexcercise that may take place under the tree, kitchen table, dining room table, bedroom, backyard. That knocking sound that you hear won't be the rod about to go through the pan. By then we'll be hungry.

Then again it would depend on how far down the road the party is and we may only leave one or two places off the love map.

Who's cooking again?

And don't forget she even built the seating. Woo-Hoo!!!

nuttin' at all. there's just so much one can say about a really great hammer though. i'd rather discuss theories of cosmology, local politics, religion, gay rights, where to get the best mexican food, this rash on my foot, ways to make servers run more reliably, how to get rust stains out of countertops, the order of history and the history of order, whether the new extended life mobil one motor oil will live up to its 15,000 mile change interval, the sumerians, whether barry bonds will break hank aaron's record, what the best single-malt scotch is, hoodia, the hittites, where to get the best chinese food, why we are overtaxed yet underfunded, how SBC has managed against all odds to make me sick of eric clapton, whether HD-DVD or Blu-ray will win the format war (neither!), the Folding at Home project to help cure alzheimers (and other diseases), taiwan's aborigines, and why Exile On Mainstreet is the greatest album of all time.

not necessarily in that order, however.

Um...I'd like to get one of those hammers that loads a nail in it and sinks it with your first strike.

I've had the best scotch money could buy and don't care for it much. I like rust stains on countertops, it adds character. I believe space is just as much an illusion as Earth, hate every politician I've met and most of the preachers, gays make really good friends except when they're hitting on me and don't think I have the right to tell them to stop, history will repeat itself so I'll just wait and see, I think it will only reach 14, 999 miles so they lie, no one will beat hank aaron for another five or six years, don't know what hoodia is please tell, the chinese restaurant around the corner from me is always packed so I'd bet on that, we're underfunded because we're overtaxed and there is little room left for private investment, something about eric clapton always made me sick, and try peeing on your feet in the shower. :D (I know I left a few out, but it's a good start)

an excellent start.

hoodia is a succulent that grows in the kalihari desert in africa. the bushmen have used it for thousands of years to quiet hunger pangs while on long hunting expeditions. it was recently 'discovered' by some westerners. they've patented the active ingredient that makes you not want to eat, and are spending literally hundreds of millions of dollars cultivating large tracts of it, and trying to find a way to put it in a pill. unfortunately, the results so far have been poor - only the freshly cut cactus has the effect.

of course, you can't patent a wild plant. so, you can buy hoodia seeds, and grow it yourself. i suspect it may become a huge industry - hoodia available in your local grocery store's produce section. there's a ton of sites on the internet selling 'hoodia pills' - dried and ground up hoodia. the pills have almost no effect, but the scammers are making a ton of money off the buzz about the plant.

the downside to growing it: takes six years to mature. of course, asparagus takes seven years to mature. and fruit trees often take decades to begin producing in volume.

i think i'm gonna be a hoodia farmer, yep.

That's the thing with most herbs including almost ineffectual teas unless infused properly...must be fresh and consumed almost immediately. It drives me batty the trends that occur with taking pills. Eat right, people. That is better than any pill.

Sounds like a good investment. Long wait but low overhead. Now I'm waiting for an herb that helps you gain weight but only where you want it.

Invite? You don't need and invite! You're already invited. We'll push to have the party in Newfoundland because it is the closest land point between us. We can hold the first international garden cricaseball series.

Not invited? Stop being such a jokester.
