I have a pipe coming out of the wall as in the diagram below. I have a mesh wall patch that I wish to cover the hole surrounding the pipe on all sides. I want a nice clean tight fit around the pipe, but Im being dense here trying to figure out how to cut the patch to fit around the pipe and still leaving the patch in one piece.

Measure the diameter of pipe and cut a hole in your patch that's the same diameter???

I dunno from the looks of it your gonna have to use two pieces to patch the hole seamlessly and I would think in a easier way.

Cut he hole to size. Then just cut a straight line from the edge of the patch to the hole. Bend to seperate, put in place then the patch will meet and make a nice inseeable seam.

if you can fold the patch in half and then cut a semi circle on the folded side you'd have your hole and the patch in one piece which will work if you can slip it on the pipe at some point....is that what you mean??

Or, forget the patch entirely and buy some of that foam that hardens

as it "cures" spray it in and voila... all done!!

Whats the proper way to measure the diameter of the pipe ? I dont have a flexible tape measure, at least not one that would bend perfectly around the pipe.

It needs to be a clean finished look Val gal.

I think that would compromise the patch sunshine, its a thin metal mesh. It wouldnt lay flat afterwards.

wrap the pipe with something flexible, string, whatever and then put the string against your tape measure. :-6

But I think you can get an Exacto knife and trim the foam!!

Measure around the pipe.

Basic geometry:

C=(pi)d

Divide it by 3.14

I can't stop...

Get a piece of string or other flexible material and cut to fit around

pipe, then lay against your measuring tape!!

Now I think I really will stop.
