Tatami Style Yoga Mats?
Retailers would have you believe that you need mats.
I've never used one but I only do a 10 minute series in the mornings. And this is a good reminder that I ought to start doing it regularily again. I did do it for an hour every morning for a while without mats and didn't harm anything.
It's probably a good idea if you are supporting your weight on your neck on a regular basis or other postures that could put pressure on your bony areas.

Tatami Style Yoga Mats?
I only use a regular all purpose exercise mat, I don't need a special mat.

Thanks everyone for the replies concerning yoga mats I am trying to figure out what I want in the future. Anyway, does anyone know if rubber mats are good for yoga? I checked out this yoga mat here: interlockingfloormat.com/tatami_interlocking_mats.htm
