I always wanted to see that too Pinky

but I thought there was more color in the Northern Lights.....more pinks and blues and stuff. Maybe I am thinking of something else.

The Northern Lights(Aurora) are different in different places.

i hope you make plans again. i would love to see them too with that special person. i imagine it as something of a romantic experience as well as surreal. :-4

Cool, I love the northern lights, its a shame we only get them very occasionaly down this far, and never as good as that. Still, cool.

Every few years, if conditions are right, we can see them down here. They are not as brilliant as up north, but still a sight to see.

Pinky they are great. I have only seen them once, as I have to drive up to the lake to see them, away from the city lights. But I hope I can again soon.

Oh, those have always fascinated me! Living so far south it's not even a possibility, but I've always wanted to visit Alaska for that very reason!

We enjoy that here yet Ive never seen it. Last year we had a magnificent display, all I had to do was look out the window. Instead I saw the pics in next days paper.

we're at 'solar minimum' right now - the low point of solar flare and sunspot activity, in its eleven year cycle. NASA is predicting that the next solar max - around 2010, 2011 - is likely to be extraordinary. there's much arcane science behind it, but it should equal or exceed the solar max of 1958, when the aurora were visible as far south as *mexico*!

so mark your calendars. it should be quite a light show when 2010 rolls around...

I saw the Northern lights north of the Arctic Circle in Norway and it was something I'll never forget. We were halfway up a mountain and it was pitch black so we just lay down and admired the show
