Sudden Death: Good or Bad?
I would like to be close to a loved one at home.
Sudden Death: Good or Bad?
I definately want to die suddenly. It would be easier on me and way better than my family watching me suffer.

Sudden Death: Good or Bad?

Some have suggested that euthanasia by deliberate decision of the patient be allowed in order to 'speed up' the process of dying. In the two cases I mentioned above (mother and grandmother) their ability to logically make decisions for themselves was lost years before their deaths. Therefore any decision of this type was impossible for them to make.
The closest thing that is legal, at least in this state, is a Living Will. I have one that I have signed and had notarized, and it is with my important papers. My wife knows where it is, so that if something should happen to me she would be able to get it.
Same here Harry,

Welcome to the garden Harry. Lots of discussion. Happy posting.
Death? I'll take it however it comes.

Personally I would prefer a sudden death. I watched my mother die from a brain cancer called glyoblastoma. Its symptoms are similar to alzheimers. It was painless but hard on everyone including my mother.

I am not afraid of death and have a rather unique way of dealing with pain...what do I choose? I was working with someone fairly close to me when she got the phone call saying her husband died of a sudden, unexpected heart attack. Not nice. I think I was more of a mess than she was but only because she was in shock. It took a long time for her to get over it. She was lucky because, despite their many arguements they had just kissed and made up and so things were left on a good note. What if? What if harsh words were spoken or an arguement was unresolved? I strongly believe in euthanasia after watching my grandfather slowly lose limbs to gangrene. Why can't we show the same compassion to people that we show to our pets?
I would choose slow death. I'm pretty good with words and I would have a lot of them to share with the people I love before I leave. If I am losing my mind I will get those words written down before my mind is gone and with implicit instructions on how to deal with me throught my illness and death. I do not wish for any sudden exits without having the chance to complete my journey with all the parting words and love that I can muster.

I like what my mother says. " I'm not afraid of death, I just don't want to be there when it happens."

After watching a grandparent die over six years I most definately wish to die quickly. I'm not so afraid of pain or disease but the agony it forces the family to endure. It changed my mother forever. She isn't the person she was before. Sudden death may be a selfish wish but the alternative is unthinkable for myself at least.
"Should any political party attempt to abolish social security, unemployment insurance, and eliminate labor laws and farm programs, you would not hear of that party again in our political history. There is a tiny splinter group that believes you can do these things. Among them are a few Texas millionaires, or businessman from other areas. Their number is negligible and they are stupid." Sudden Death: Good or Bad?
Well, I would not prefer to die unexpectedly. I would hope I would have time to say goodbye to those I love and try to right any wrongs I may have done. I would not like to be murdered and I suppose that even pain may have its relish for me because I would still know I am alive, but not a torturous pain or one that would make me cruel to my loved ones.
Sudden Death: Good or Bad?
My first, wife died quite suddenly from a pulmonary embolism. Autopsy revealed that she had pancreatic cancer (undiagnosed). The embolism was unrelated to the pancreatic cancer. Dying of Pancreatic Cancer is not a pleasant way to go and I was relieved, as she would have been as well, that she died quickly. Fortunately, we had an agreement to never go to bed angry at one another and the night before her death we exchanged expressions of endearment. Her house was in order, and the last words spoken to our daughter on the phone, the night before her death was "I love you".
I have reached the age where I have seen a number of deaths, some younger, some older and the long drawn out & frequently painful, are not my cup of tea. I wish for myself a quick death & have kept my house in order as preparation.
