I agree, children need to respect people with disabilities. On the other hand disabled people can be brats too?

Good luck, dude! Anything that helps children to understand and appreciate people, I'm all for!

One thing, though....please make sure to teach them that how to spell "disabilities" correctly!

There are many creative ways to teach kids about disabilities but the improtant thing to remember is not to focus on disability but rather ability. It is also important to remind children that we all become disabled in some way as we age and that by simply knowing someone as disabled creates a label. Your goal might be to teach children to accept difference. Children also enjoy experiential stuff so maybe include something like that. Could help...Good luck !

Thomas, I expect you will do a great job. I can tell by what you say here that you really want to help other people. I have a friend who is autistic. He is in Europe right now, teaching other autistic people to dance.

Kim, the lady I work with dies a presentation for young children called Making Friends. In it she and others talk about thier disabilities, and help the children become more aware and comfortable around people with disabilities. Kim even wrote a short story, which was illustrated into a coloring book, about two boys, one in a wheelchair, and one able bodied, who meet at school and become friends. She really enjoys these presentations, and the kids love them too.

Hi Everyone,

This is Kim, the one that belongs to Marie. I love doing my presentations to children and teaching them about people with disabilities. I like to talk to young children before they start forming their own opinions.

Hey Thomas

You could probably teach a lot of adults about disability too. Often kids are better at dealing with disablity than adults are.:guitarist
