Stealth kitties?
This story had me cracking up:
Daddy came home from work at about 6:30 this morning, and I was happy to see him like always, so Daddy played with me for a bit (which made me very happy), but then I let him know I had to go potty, so Daddy took me outside. Well, I go outside and run off behind my bush where I like to do my buisiness cause it's away from where I play (it's yucky, I don't wanna run through it!!), and as I'm at my most vulnerable a funny looking fluffy kitty comes walking out from behind a big tan box (Daddy says it's part of the house's electrical system), and when it sees me it gets scared and makes a funny noise and I got blasted in the face with the nastiest thing EVER!!
It hurt so bad, and scared me so bad, I was just going potty and now I find out there's a stealth kitty using chemical warfare?! Well, I didn't know what to do so I ran to Daddy before I was completely done and get him to protect me because I hurt sooooo bad, my eyes were puffy and had discharge, and I sneezed alot. Daddy freaked a little bit and woke up Mommy, and they gave me a bath, which really sucked because it was about 45 degrees outside! The bath made me feel better though because my eyes didn't hurt anymore.
Mommy wasn't happy though because I still smelled funny, so she gave me a couple baths with some funny smelling red stuff that made my fur really soft. I didn't like it at first, but I figured out that it made the kitty's stink go away, and I was allowed to come back into the house again.
I gotta tell you, I'm never going to mess with those stealth kitties EVER! My fellow cainine friends, if you see a black, fluffy kitty with white stripes, stay very, very far from it; they're evil!
ps- I hope my brother Toby doesn't do this when he grows up!!

(Unfortunately, this dogger's warning comes about 13 years too late
for Tamsen!!)

That is the fattest skunk I've ever seen!
My candle's burning at both ends, it will not last the night. But ah, my foes, and oh, my friends--It gives a lovely light!--Edna St. Vincent Millay

Stealth kitties?
Tamsen was about a year and a half old... we went out to our usual
walking spot... (this is when we lived in an area closer to SF Bay)
and it was really "wild" out there, fields, jackrabbits, etc. and I could
let Tamsen have at it. Well we started down this one little trail along
a levee and out of the (tall) weeds came this little black and white
"kitty". You could see Tamsen's eyes light up, she loved kitties and here
was a great opportunity for PLAY. She trots right up, innocent as all
get-out and totally ignoring my "Come" commands... sticks her nose out
and WHAM, full force in the face. My poor baby! The whimpering and
sneezing and pawing at her face, it was terrible.
The other really bad thing about it was... I had to put her in the car to
get her home!!
