Screenings For Hooligans In The Womb

Post by Casey Morgan »

 Normally I like to discuss things like this based upon the logic of what has been posted. Having failed to find any, I guess I'll have to go wing it. (That "no logic" thing isn't aimed at you helefra, just the State's plans.)

They seriously want to prevent babies from being born into "high risk" families? Seems like somebody said the h*ll with the Nature vs. Nurture debate and is just forging ahead with their own schemes. If people are hooligans by nurture then how is it possibly going to help to make mom and dad be part of the solution? If people are hooligans by nature then they can be born into any family. Dumb, dumb, dumb.

Didn't I read this in a sci-fi novel somewhere? (1984, but that's not what I mean.) Maybe the government should be forced to read Pollyanna instead.

Wow. Interesting. While I have never been to a psychiatrist, I have been to a counselor, for short term stuff. Wonder if I got messed up only slightly while in the womb. :sneaky:

I met a psychologist on a recent trip to Australia, who refers to her patients as mad bastards.

WAIT! Can that possibly be true? I realize Tony Blair isn't popular in some circles, but I don't think he's insane....and anyone supporting that issue would HAVE to be insane.

It's eugenics...and it's nuts.

Making the simple complicated is commonplace; making the complicated simple, awesomely simple, that's creativity.

This is almost too farfetched to be true but considering the way the world has been going I believe it. Look at the freedoms in the US that are being encroached upon in the name of "protection" from terrorists. That's where we're heading and it gets more Orwellian every day.

This whole thing about preventing bad seeds before they're born is absurd. Though I am one to subscribe to the theory that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, I have seen many exceptions. Bad people will exist as long as humanity exists. You can't weed them all out. That is silly.

I echo Lulu in that this is the start of eugenics. Imagine the possibilities of what they will try next if they get away with this.

I am appalled at those things you listed Helefra, the ASBOs and basically picking on the poor as if bad seeds only come from poor socioeconomic families and situations. What really gets my goat is that this is an invasion of privacy! I am big on privacy and these routine checks of the poor don't sit well with me at all.

This is a very poor idea indeed.
