On a Christian forum, people are getting hot under the collar over the alleged authenticity of a group of Russian geologists who claim to have drilled too near to the core of the earth. According the to literature, these scientists then lowered a microphome into the hole to listen to what they hoped would be seismic movement. Apparently what they heard was "the sounds of millions of people screaming in eternal torment" HELL! Opinion is evenly divided. Some dismiss it as total crap that could be reproduced in any recording studio, whil others are convinced it ir the real McCoy. To listen to the twenty minute recording I'd have to have true sound or something, but I don't want to waste money for just a twenty minute recording, as I do not download music of films. Has anybody out there heard this recording, and what do they think??

It'll take you onto some other stuff and then go onto the part about the recording from Hell. Don't have nightmares!!

Perhaps the next space mission could try putting a microphone outside the craft and we could hear the "sounds of millions of people laughing in eternal ecstasy" in heaven.

Those geologists probably tunnelled into the Northern Line on the London Underground on a Monday morning. As near to hell as we'll get.

I see, so the earth is hollow and in the middle is hell with all the people in it? Thats something I didn't consider! So if we dug down deep enough we could meet the devil himself? Perhaps we could mount a rescue mission for the people down there, you know I'm sure there have been some administrative mistakes and some not entirely evil people have ended up "down under" (sorry australia, not reffering to you there).
I did recently see a show where the "creators" of the alien autopsy film thing admitted that actually it was made by some British blokes in a flat in Camden town and that they used chicken guts and sheep bones for authenticity, though I've not heard of anyone faking hell lately, its ambitious if nothing else. What about Limbo? Where's that place at? It used to be this place that us catholics believed unbaptised children etc ended up, though the Chursh have said it doesn't exist now I think, so its been abolished then, oh well.
Seriously though, come on, Hell, a real place down a couple of thousand feet? Its like a South Park script.

Good gracious, that's Art Bell. He's a conspiracy, UFO, paranormal nutjob. :wah: It was entertaining though, but the tape could have been made anywhere where there is a crowd.

Wein, this is several years old and the entire story was a complete fabrication (I haven't heard the tape). If you, seriously, attach any credibility to it, think it out LOGICALLY. The 'millions of people' referred to are DEAD! Their bodies are decaying in boneyards somewhere, six feet below the surface, not miles. They are in no position, either geographically or physically, to be crying out from the bowels of the earth.
That we are judged after death by God and either rewarded or punished is a matter of religious faith, and will remain one until each of us completes his/her time on this earth. The essence of Judeo-Christian religion is not to worry about the hereafter but to live THIS LIFE in God's service. Then the next life, if there is one, will take care of itself.

I'm getting a "Page cannot be displayed" error when I try to access the site.
But I should think that the stresses of molten and partially molten metal would produce a lot of strange sounds. Geologists, I'm sure, would know this. Most likely an 'in' joke amongst the team workers.

I have not heard it. It's going to be c**p. It really is hot down there, I'll
give 'em that. Drilling to near "the core"? How? It's *hot* down there,
even barely scratching the surface, which is all we're able to do now.

I note that http://www.onlinenewspapers.com/finland.htm has no mention of Ammenusastia despite the article referenced claiming "the well respected Finland newspaper, Ammenusastia" as its source.
Anyone creating a hoax is bound to create a setting and try to make it plausible. If this is a hoax then it started with a recording, someone saying "wow you could imagine that's hell, not Oxford Street in the Christmas Rush" (or wherever the recording was really made), and finally a deliberate construction of words to add a plausible (!) setting before putting the story to the public.
Does finding a lie in the setting damn the authenticity of the product? One would hope so, but I'm not going to try chasing down a list of Siberian Geologists. We have magazines in the UK which have shown a London Bus photographed on the surface of the moon, for example. The amusement derives from the idiocy of the premise, not the skill of the forgery. As idiotic stories go, this one's a lulu.
