ECT - Is it a cure or a killer?

This is a very negative treatment, and I know a family who had it in the 70s when it was considered all right. It ruined him for the rest of his life, he is no longer the person he once was.

You do not kill a sickness by using the "electric chair!"

Is this really still done as a treatment for depression?
You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say will be misquoted, then used against you.

Although it's a treatment that I probably would not choose for myself, the feedback I received in my last job was that it works really well for some people and not for others...like every therapy.

ECT may be beneficial for some but then you might could say that about lobotomies too. There's a reason those went out of style.

From everything I can gather it is the most barbaric "treatment" ever invented - including lobotomy and trepanning.

How they ever get permission to use it is beyond me.
