Our gov't's political parties descriminate each other, yet we're not supposed to???

When does a day go by you don't watch the news and hear political parties talking good about one another. The way I see it, it seems like when a president appoints an official that's not of his party, it's pretty similar to the the way a marriage of two different ethnic groups ( not just black and white) is viewed also said by some to be a "mixed couple". We elect the people that run the country for us, and make the rules for us right? How many people will vote solely on their political affiliation regardless of what type of president they will be, or any other official for that matter. There's the liberals, the republicans, democrats......in no particular order we also have, white, black, natives and immigrants. It's sort of how a person will carry traits of their upbringing. Our "parents" being the government, and we as the "children". Now I'm not a therapist, but as I can recall that would be saying "do as i say, not as i do" wouldn't it?
