I couldn't believe my eyes!

Post by cars »

I couldn't believe my eyes today when I saw a brief article of a White School Bus driver in Louisiana allegedly making the Black Children on his bus move to the back of the bus!!! I thought all that kind of stuff was over! You Just never know. Seems like it will never end in our lifetime! :wah:

I saw an article which said THE INCIDENT IS BEING INVESTIGATED. Perhaps we could give this driver the benefit of the doubt until it's all been explained? I can think of several reasons why a bus driver might make a group of students move to the back of the bus....and they don't have anything to do with skin color.

Yes the article/post said "allegedly", but what reasons could substiantiate moving only one skin color to the back? :-2

Well, Cars....perhaps they were a group of rowdy friends? WE DON'T KNOW WHAT HAPPENED YET! Can we give the man the benefit of the doubt rather than jumping to conclusions? There's time enough to brand him as a racist, if, in fact, that's what he is!

Wouldn't you want the same consideration, in his situation?

Good thinking Lulu. It might have been the kids fighting or making racist remarks, not the driver. He might have just been splitting up the rowdy ones. I also read a good point here recently saying people assume racism means whites name-calling to blacks, but it could just as easily be the other way around. :(

If you ask me they'd be sitting in the front so I could keep an eye on them. Now adays the back of the bus is where all the cool cats sit. Which means most of the mischief goes on in the back. So TO THE FRONT! :-3

I hear a lot of horror stories about what goes on in the schools and on buses these days kids beating up one another, beating up bus drivers spitting on them ect.

What I am about to say is very un PC.

This happens LARGELY in certain schools, on certain buses. The children who cause the problems LARGELY tend to be black kids. In all fairness it goes on in other circumstances but not nearly as much.

This is just another attempt to get money. It will not solve any problems or change the behavior of anyone.

As for a solution to this problem. Bring back school discipline and start telling whiney sue happy idiotic parents to shut the hell up.
I think I have to agree with you on that one.

This happened just a few miles from my city so it is a big deal in the local news media. I thought, surely, the parents are making a big deal out of nothing. But it appears to be a valid complaint. There are only 30 some-odd kids riding this bus that can carry over 50. Only the black kids were told to go to the back and the nine were forced to sit in just a couple of seats forcing the younger ones to sit in the laps of the older. There has been no denial from the bus driver or the school superintendent. The collosal stupidity of this bus driver is breathtaking. She should be fired immediately. One of the mothers sounded very reasonable. She said it didn't have to come to this, she tried talking to the bus driver and the school district but no one would talk to her, that she didn't want to make a big deal out of it but it was the only way she could get answers. However, she hired Al Sharpton's legal team to represent them which will lose her some public sympathy in this area. Better she had gone with a local law firm.

As bad as this is, my kids had a substitute bus driver who refused to let the kids lower the windows on the bus. This during 100 degree heat, (he had a nice fan blowing on him and his side window was open). The temp in that bus must have been nearing 120. He never drove that bus again but the school system didn't fire him. They should have.

Has there been no explanation from this driver whatsoever? That's amazing!

That's not only racist, it was also dangerous! To have kids riding in the laps of other kids.

It will be interesting to learn the full story and the reasoning behind the bus driver's actions

Oh yes, Sharpton did approach her. But she still agreed to let him put his slimy fingers into the situation which won't help things one bit. There are plenty of local civil rights attorneys and activists that she could have hooked up with. I'm not judging her for hitching a ride on Sharpton's publicity and money-making machine, I'm just saying she will lose some public sympathy by doing so.
