We are investigating broadband, and are looking for a good, reliablie service, which we won't have to mortgage the home to pay for.
We have been looking at Vonage for phone service...$24.99 for unlimited everything. BUT you have to have broadband internet to get it. And they do not offer broadband service.
Any suggestions? I have looked at Road Runner, but it is crazy expensive, and thier only "deal" is the all in one...phone, cable and internet. And we have sattelite, and want to keep it.
Any hints?

It depends on what you want from Broadband and your computer.
Cable Broadband is best and Comcast offers a connection speed of 6Mb/second which is probably as fast as you need.
Broadband DSL services offered by the phone companies (e.g. Verizon) are also available but much slower than a cable connection.
As a comparison, cable Broadband is approx. 10 times faster than DSL and 100 times faster than 56K dial-up.
Also, your satellite provider should be able to provide a satellite Broadband connection for you.
Incidentally, the Vonage $24.99 all-in service is expensive compared to any of the VoIP companies (Skype etc.)
Hope this is helpful.

Thank you. I will investigate Comcast. I am starting to be leary of Vonage, anyway...starting to read the fine print in the commercials.
