World Trade Center

I saw this movie yesterday. I was expecting a political or conspiracy movie from Oliver stone, but it wasn't political or exploitative at all. It is an important story of the triumph of humanity, heroism, and the will to survive after a horrible moment of inhumanity. I highly recommend this movie. It's one you'll not want to miss.:yh_clap :yh_clap :yh_clap

I had such mixed feelings about this movie.... don't know if I could bring myself to watch it. :( Is it true they used recordings of actual phonecalls made from oneof the flights?

I hope it doesn't encourage any more nutcases to go blowing things up

No, they didn't. You may be thinking of the movie "United 93". This movie isn't overtly about terrorism. You never see the terrorists. You never see the planes flying into the WTC. Everything is presented from the perspective of a few Port Authority policemen. You are given a real sense of how confused and overwhelmed they were. They didn't know both towers had been hit by planes. The two main characters didn't even realize that the towers had totally collapsed. The viewer hears and sees things as the PAPD did that day. The movie relives that day through their eyes. It is a powerful film.

United 93 was really about confusion, realisation and disbelief. I thought the story off the plane was more interesting, but obviously less emotional.

It really is a day I want to forget, yet still feel strangely drawn to Stones film which I imagine will be the more powerful and distressing of the two.
