Possibly she has been suffering from long term abuse by her husband?

She had to pour the oil over him, cause she couldn't fit him into the deep fryer!

This has to be the result of some deep personal anger for her husband. She obviously had developed an angor toward him, whether it be through abuse, or god knows what would drive someone to do something like this. No one drops boiling cooking oil all over someones head for insurance, thats for sure.

It is sick. But a woman can be abused to the point where she goes insane. Then this is what happens. I'm curious as to what drove her to it. This isnt just some insurance thing.

I have no doubt it isn't an insurance thing. The movie The Burning Bed shows how a woman can be pushed to the point where she really has no other choice. If a man did this to a woman, would people be so quick to think it was all her fault and that she drove him to it?

I am curious also. I am also concerned for the safety of the children. Even if she would not do anything to them, if she is at all unstable, for whatever reason, the kids need to be taken care of.

As a means of buttressing a criminal defence it carries much weight, especially when enjoined with the concept of provocation. What it has esentially done is extended the coverage of provocation to reduce the necessity for immediacy. And it works.
From the paper I referred to:
"Interestingly, in a few cases, the prosecution has been pleased to have the idea of BWS introduced, because the prosecutors then were able to use the BWS evidence in a clever way against the interests of the woman charged with a crime. For example, once BWS is introduced at trial, the prosecution can then argue that the victim engaged in prior violent acts towards the woman, and this serves as a motive for revenge, which is not an excuse for a crime. Also, this BWS evidence may be used to demonstrate that she has lied in the past when she denied her husband beat her to keep him out of jail (most battered women have done this at least once). At trial, she claims a history of beatings, but in the past she denied he beat her. So, whichever is true, she is a liar. This can be used to impeach her credibility before the jury, who may then not believe anything she has to say. The prosecution may also use their own expert witness, a psychologist or psychiatrist, to testify that the woman does not meet all the diagnostic criteria for depression, or anxiety, or perhaps even PTSD, and she is likely malingering or faking her condition. If the jury believes the prosecution's expert, then the woman will likely be impeached. So, if the woman is successful in introducing into evidence her claim she was suffering from BWS, it can backfire on her."

In India its common practise to throw acid in a persons face as an act of revenge - there have been many many many incidents . Hot oil ,acid there both terrible - also, apparently here in the UK prisoners often use the boiling water and suger method when they want to maim another prisoner .

Look abuse works both ways,We don't know the whole story.I'm sure when she is caught she will have plenty of excuses.
This could happen anywhere.
My wife would do it too me with out hesitation. It happens over and over, they get Together, get along great, then they get married, things get old,the hate creeps in and before long you dred the very day you ever met that person.
No one has ever hated me like my wife does.If she ever wins alot of money,I am dead man.
But of course it will be my fault, wifes are inocent, men have no rights, ask anyone paying child support.

It is quite interesting how we, as a society, immediately look for explainable motives when a woman kills her husband. We are quick to believe "it must have been" a result of abuse on his part. However, if a husband kills his wife we all take the "string him up" position. I happen to know, as a result of my line of work, that spousal abuse of husbands is far more common than most people realize. But since the man is supposed to be the stronger of the sexes, we tend to laugh it off or minimize the abuse or even make excuses for it - "he had it coming", "he must have done something to deserve it".
This man was cooked alive and spent a week in unimaginable agony. It's possible he was sadistically abusive. It's also possible that he married an abusive spouse. We just don't know. No offense to anyone, but I find it just a little disturbing that anyone would chuckle at the specter of anyone being boiled alive. I suspect if this story was about a man who did this to his wife this thread would be full of angry emoticons with plenty of expletives directed toward the man who would do such a thing. I just wonder why we are so light-hearted about abuse of husbands. It really does happen-more often than you think. No wonder most men don't report it, they know they would become laughing stocks.

Oh Tater! i can't believe that your wife hates you! I know things get old, but I can't believe it could be that bad. Then again, I've never been married.
And as far as the child support thing, I am right there with you! A man will go to jail if he doesn't have a job, the woman can do whatever she pleases, work, don't work, keep having bastard children.. I think the kids should be taken care of, of course, but the women should held accountable as well.
