Good news and bad news

Post by minks »

I just got back from animal services, it was a nasty situation a must do or the dog that belongs to the ex would have been adopted out. The ex had not renewed the licence for his dog so the fine was $250 I could not leave the dog because in 4 more days the dog would have been gone up for adoption and 2 parties already were interested in him. If the ex had contacted his Vet and stated I was in pet sitting there would have been no fees or fines because the people who found him called the vet and the ex for 2 days before calling animal services and nobody could reach the ex. The dog's fee for his stay and purchase of a new licence was another $85. I am livid now.

Good news, the dog is fine.

Minks

That is unacceptable!

I hope you will consider charging the ex interest and for mental anguish as well

Will he pay you in full?

Good lord Minks....bad news...good news....bad news....what a see saw...oh well the dogs happy....just hope you get the money from your ex.

It seems a very short space of time before the dog is put up for adoption.....hardly any time for the owner to find and collect it.

Dogs are only kept for 1 week. Dog was picked up on the weekend. oops perhaps not 4 but 5 days but regardless, by the time the ex returns next week the dog would have been gone.

I am going to appeal to the ex for $$ I have left word on his answering machines so he has a heads up when he gets around to checking messages. It is unacceptable, and if only he had told his vet I was looking after the dog, they would have called me first.

Your ex needs to pay you money, big time! I'm glad the dog is back-but you've been worried for days! And forking out money too!

I was so tempted to leave the dog there and let the fees add up for his stay, but.... if that dog was adopted out his step daughter who is only 12 would never ever ever forgive me and God Dam(sorry on the curse) kids and animals play on my good nature.

I would tell him if he doesn't pay you back, in full, immediately, you will take the dog right back to the pound. Being nice about it could be way too costly.

Oh Peg believe me I thought of that but the kicker is I leave town Friday for 4 days, his dog will go to our daughters for care, he will return before I do and I can't put her in the middle and say Don't give your dad his dog. :(

Ewww I see what a sticky situation you are in. If he doesn't pay you back, don't ever watch the little monster for him again!

Minks. He's not actually going to give you a hard time about the $$ is he??!?!! After all the trouble and expense you went to, he wouldn't dare do that...tell me he wouldn't do that.

Minks, you're such a lovely person and I'm glad for your own piece of mind that you found the pup.

I was going to say keep the pup and if he doesn't give you the money then sell it and recuperate your losses. However, if there's a kiddie involved then you can't cause her heartbreak. I'm guessing that you've lost your money because if the ex didn't care enough to renew his license and didn't care enough to make arrangements such as informing the vet, then he probably couldn't really be bothered with the pet and is probably half-hoping it WOULD do a runner and save him the hassle of vets fees and walkies! Sorry to be so blunt!

However, he's lost out because you SHOULD refuse to care for it in future, you don't need his hassles and his worries and then next time something goes wrong, you don't look like the bad guy, he does!

Big hugs for being such a wonderfully kind, generous and sensitive person!

Big kick in the butt to him for being such an ass!

This is for the ex:

Thanks all of you I will let you know the results next week as to weather i get some $$ back, My plan is to sit down with the ex and his wife as they are both the owners of the dog and state my case with them. I really don't know what to expect.
