Yeah.
Where I used to work, a patient came in often that I felt a connection with. She was educated, well-informed and interested in arts and culture. Every time I spoke with her, I learned something new.
One day we started talking about homosexuals, and she said, "They should all be put on an island somewhere far, far away -- they're sick and should be removed from society."
One comment and it was all over for me.
Yeah.

Yup, I know that word well.
Makes me cringe.
Snooze, do you consider yourself half-Jewish?

Also had an elderly patient who came in often. Nice older lady, always had a good conversation with her.
Until she told me about buying a car and "Jewing them down" on the price.
The strange thing is that she *knew* I was Jewish, but I think she felt this was a commonly-accepted turn of phrase and therefore not offensive.
Some people!

I'm with you on this one ladies.....My nephew is gay, two of the people here at work are gay, and I have two wonderful buddhist friends that are gay. They are some of the nicest people I have ever met.

Snooze, in my religion, the belief is that your religion is determined by your mother's faith, not your father's.
But this is a *moral* belief, not a legal one.
I know many people who have converted to Judiasm. They know much more about my religion than I do. I am not religious at all. It's more of a cultural connection for me than a religious one. I never went to Hebrew school and was not bas mitzvahed either.
When I was younger, only boys did that.

Chonsi my friend
I'm embarrassed to say that I'm sure you know more Hebrew than I do.
'Course you seem to know something about so many things. And you seem like the type of person that keeps on learning throughout life.
That's my favorite kind of person :-4

I think this thread should be brought forward over and over again, sure you got silly in it, but also notice how things were discussed, and how everyone was civil, even though opinions differed.
And as for the flame throwing, I am glad it was merely words,
remember sticks and stones, and methyl chloride hydrate can hurt like heck,
name calling is completely un-necessary.
Hmmm I am not seeing this fly as a new version of an old kids poem....
Anyway gang well done on a thread that could have been another bash up.
