All programs opening in word file converter-HELP

Welcome to the garden.

Sounds like your file associations have gone wonky; a number of things can cause this, spyware/adware/trojans/virii being in the top of the category.

Do you have your Windows XP install disk? If so, you can try the following to attempt to restore some of your base Windows files to their original state:

Try this first: Go to Start->Run (or type "windows" key + "r" key, and in the Run... dialog that comes up, type (without the quotes) "sfc /scannow"

If that dosen't work or you can't do it because the install disk is unavailable, then go to Start->Run again, type "C:"; an explorer window should pop up. Go to Tools->Folder Options->File types, and see if all the extensions are associated with Word.

You may also want to try downloading this from Microsoft. So far I've had really good luck with it.
