Far from being bunk as you suggest, the facts of global warming are well documented.

So, what is the best sources to use in order to learn more about global warming, and the state of the earth? I am not being funny here, just curious.

That's too pessimistic of a view for me. After all, we've already come a long, long way. We've eradicated many diseases and are actively working on others. We've landed men on the moon. Sure there might be some catastrophes in the future, but mankind is maturing and progressing all the time.

As to the universe, I like the cyclical theory. That has a beauty and symmetry that I associate with God.:D

Oooo I am with BR on this one here, sure we have thought to have wiped out some diseases but some have returned, such as whooping cough, TB, and Measles as a small sampling. We wiped out others but then we have new ones with super strength, AIDS, Ebola, cancer, heck even Malaryia (sorry can't spell today). We allegedly are wiping out our oil and gas reserves hmmmm isn't that part of what mother nature has given us. We have wiped out how many species of animal, plant, fish etc...already. We have global warming and polution out the gazoo, yet we can't control... mosquitos... and they carry what... west nile. We have seen SARs and super bugs in hospitals, and we are now fighting Bird Flu, look at all us humans are fighting, soon we will be chasing our own tails, and here is the kicker, most of us here have heard of all this... in our life times, just a very teeeeny window of time in this big vast..."universe" to me this seems almost unmanagable, we can't keep up with cures. and solutions to our problems. I think we will wear out

My Dad always taught me to work with nature and let it do the hard work for you. But, he always said that if you try and work against nature, it will just turn around and slap you down. We are naiive if we think that we are great enough to destroy this planet.

Industry, national politics and greed together seek to exploit the planet's resources for maximum profit. In return, nature will slowly but surely wipe us out - unless we evolve.

Instead of ransacking the planet's resources, we could be its keeper and nature would work with and for us. Something that would require a great spiritual evolvement throughout the world. Yet, this is also happening - but not at the top of the human chain. And it just doesn't make great news - yet.

Unfortunately, the planet's biggest threat are those in power and Battlestar Galactica may not be that far away. Those in power would be first up to leave everyone else to die in their wake. There again, my imagination may be stretching too far.

At the end of the day, I think it's down to us humbler folk to take action to bring about change.

I tend to go with Stephen Kings approach, in the Stand. We will dig up a super plague thats been lying dormant for a gozillion years, then wipe ourselves out. Except those of us who have natural immunity of course. :yh_bigsmi
