Led Zeplin is number 4/Garth Brooks is number 3

Tidbits had a top 10 list of all time selling artist according the the Recording Industry of America for cumulative US album sales.

It had a few surprizes in the "Cumulative US album" sales according to Recording Industry of America.

Garth Brooks beating out Led Zeplin at number 3.

The Beatles at number 1 was not a surprise.

Elvis at number 2. I would have expected him to be lower.

AC/DC at number 10 as there are so many had rock bands that I think have more talent.

And surprisingly the Rolling Stones did not make the top 10 list.

At least Pink Floyd made the list.

Perhaps this thread could have been titled a few bands better then AC/DC.

Well at least the Spice Girls didn't hit the top 10. Though I like them better then Elton John and Barbara Streisand at number 9.

The Eagles were a tad of a surprise. Not a total surprize. Could have seen them in the 8th, 9th or 10th place but 5th? Pink Floyd was 7th. And Billy Joel at 6th? Wow I knew he was popular but more popular then Yes or Jethro Tull?

Garth beat Zeplin? Give me break!

Pink Floyd should be higher, we could write a better list then that!

We could but it wouldn't affect past record sales!!!

All we can do is share better bands with people.

I wonder what the rankings are world wide as this list is just US sales.

Chasing after my 15 month old who is currently asleep. Was also selling cars for a dealership that required us to work 55 hours. They said it was a 40 hour gig when I signed up. Marketing the lotto club is alot more fun then sellin cars. They did have a ranom bonus when you sold a car of $50 to 10K. Would have been cool to have hit a 10K bonus for selling a car. I called it the "auto lotto".

Since this is a music thread I did take the wife to see Jethro Tull when they hit town. We missed Ben Park Drive opening for Stryper.

Here is my interesting (to me at least) Led Zeppelin story. When I was young (back when they were popular..in the laste 60's, early 70's) I was far from a fan of thier type of rock. Yess..I was the goofy kid who liked Dave Clark 5, Glen Campbell and others I am too embarassed to name.

Anyway..my mom knew I loved music, and I always got an album or two for Christmas or birthday. Apparently one year she neglected to ask what I wanted, and went to the record store to ask what kids my age were listening too. I ended up with Houses of the Holy, by Zeppelin. The one with Stairway to Heaven on it.

I should add that I lived in a small, one record store town then...they knew me there. When I brought the record back for an exchange, the owner laughed and said she wished she knew it was MY mom, she would have reccomended something more to my taste.

And. BR, by the way..I do not like Garth Brooks either..and I at least appreciate Zeppelin now, even though it is still not a preffered music for me!!:p

LOL

Not unless his mom is part ofthe Recording Industry of America as I quoted tidbits sorce "Cumulative US album" sales according to Recording Industry of America."

It isn't a list of who is better just who has sold more in the US. Be intresting to see who the top 10 are world wide.
