How sad

Post by Marie5656 »

OK, I love all animals, but my heart holds a special place for guinea pigs and chinchillas...This is sad. A woman in Rochester, Minnesota (not NY) had 113 guineapigs and a number of chinchillas in her town house. Many of the guinea pigs were pregnant when the humane society took them. Most of the guinea pigs will be ready for adoption soon, but the chins are being held a while longer. Here is a link to the Humane Society web site. http://www.hsca.net/ Click on the little paw that says "Help the Guinea Pigs and chinchillas. " ANy monetary donation that can be made would be appreciated.

I do not know more about the woman except what was in the article. But from what I know of what is done with animal hoarders, unles there was major neglect, not alot is done except banning them from owning animals again, or limiting the number they are allowed to have.

Yes, chins do live a long life. They have been kept as pets for only about 30 years or so, and there is not yet alot known about caring for senior chins. Trixie is not yet 2...so I think we will have her for a while yet.
