Just throwing in my two cents worth.
Gays have always been in the military, though they have not always been tolerated. It depends on how well liked the individual is by his superiours vs. how much trouble the accusing party will make.
I have talked to old acquaintences regarding what their term in service was like, etc. The topic of gays comes up, for instance, in the Navy, it is as old as the hills. The Army is more phobic, but, even back in the 1970's, there were documented gays being allowed to serve. Read the book (maybe still in print) "Conduct Unbecoming; Gays and Lesbians in the U.S. Military" by Randy Shilts (St. Martins Press; ISBN 0-312-09261-X). The book makes a study of the subject all the way back to the founding of the nation.
I personally knew the attorney from the "Lawyer's Military Defense Committee; ACLU", Chris Coates, mentioned in the book. I used to hang with him and his wife, et al, in Heidelburg on my weekends back in the early '70's. I was a little commie back then, LOL.

Ive read pages and pages of the Phelps ministry. She didnt have a chance. Ive written to her and recieved replies, shes been brainwashed by her father, the whole family has from a very early age.
