i am not sure if we have done this, my apologies if we have. it would be neat to read everyone's movie reviews, whether we agreed or not. here's mine for today. brokeback mountain came out on DVD in the states, i rented it. the best thing was the scenery. otherwise, i found it mundane. boy meets boy. boy marries girl and has kids. boy still messes around with boy. i found it neither profound nor compelling.

I'm kinda surprised you even bothered to rent this one, LC. I mean, you're not the homophobe that I am, but it still surprised me.

ANYhoo....the hubby came home tonight with "The Wedding Crashers." Total yawn-fest. I'm not fond of Owen Wilson in the first place, every character he plays is interchangeable with any other character he plays. But this? Truly and honestly sucked. We didn't even finish it, and it's completely against Bullet's nature to turn off a movie in the middle. If you haven't seen it, don't bother.

I know the film I'm going to mention has had a short thread of its own but I thought it would be okay to mention it again here.

What the Bleep Do We Know...I watched it whilst in Omaha and brought it back on dvd (sadly I can only watch it on my computer...it won't play on my dvd player)...it's a strange film, not much of a storyline, more of a commentary on metaphysics and the meaning of life....people seem to love it or hate it but it does make you think...some very thought provoking comments from quantum physics experts about reality, how we see it and how we create it.
Live the questions now. Perhaps you will then gradually, without noticing it, live along some distant day into the answers...Rainer Maria Rilke

SAW 2 - has any one seen it .

I would give it a 7/10,i liked Saw 1 - thought the story was quite original .I watched Saw 2 sunday night and believing the hype i thought it would surpass the first ,well it was ok but not brilliant, the story carrys on from the first movie with the killer setting up a cop and using his son as bait . The killer and the cop both come to a sticky end and there is a good twist at the end that makes the whole story complete. The movie was ok, and if you have seen the first installment its worth seeing the sequel because you never know there will probably be a third .:D

Derailed starring Clive Owen and Jennifer Aniston. I went into this DVD with low expectations, primarily because I can't stand Jennifer Aniston either to look at or her acting. Clive Owen on the other hand is a big fave of mine thus why I forced myself to look at a movie with JA in it.

I was pleasantly surprised. Interesting plot, with some twists you don't see coming. Extremely well acted by Clive and I say begrudgingly Jennifer as well.

Oh, and it has an Aussie in it too. She plays Clive's wife.

Out of 10 I'd give it an 7. Worth the rental fee indeed.

I went and saw Failure to Launch with Sara Jessica Parker and Matthew McCona???? Ok I can't remeber how to spell his last name. Anyways the show was more of a comedy, than just a romantic comedy. I really enjoyed it. I'd give it 8 out of 10.

I bought the movie Capote (and wedding crashers-loved it, BTW) and it was awesome, only if you read the book In Cold Blood though. My husband didnt read it and he hated the movie, although he isnt the very artsy fartsy type like me, so that could be it. Two thumbs up though on Capote.

how much did you like the scenery LC come on do tell? Oh you mean the terrain and such, well how much did you like that scenery??? hehehe that was all filmed here hehehehehehe

Just had to brag. That film does not float my boat.

Ok I saw Walk the Line a couple weekends ago and I have to say it was fantastic yeah it focused on the June Carter era as opposed to before but Reese and Jouquin did all their own singing and they did an absolute bang up job. I say rent it.

I also just saw Derailed with Jen Aniston in it.... very good loved the twist. I say rent it.

Is it just me or does anyone think this is a tragic love story? He's probably the last ape on the island and you can tell he's getting old... here she is, entertaining and lovely. He's protective of her, and she spends most of the movie trying to get back to him.

I'm a big freaking moron, but I'm crying my eyes out thinking about this.:yh_cry
King Kong was a yawner. No interesting characters and implausible animation.

Here are a few movies we rented recently that I'd recomend:

The Jacket

Hondo

Mind Hunters

Hart's War

Never Cry Wolf

Bonfire of the Vanities

Red Eye

The Machinist

Clint Eastwood: Out of the Shadows

Only thing I remeber bout Bonfire of the Vanities is that they have car trouble in the wrong side of town. Never made it farther than that.

Yeah, it was a bad movie, but in an entertaining way. It's a satirical look at political correctness and politics. I wouldn't pay full price to see it at a theater, but it's worth renting.

In Her Shoes

Not bad chick flick, typical cutsie stuff. I give it a 7/10

Elisabethtown

Weird, the ending made me a bit melencholy but the rest was odd.

6/10

I liked King Kong, but there was no tears from this girl, just wasn't that touched by it.

8/10

I would have liked to have seen it on the big screen. Great photography! Good characters, too like Ootek. :)

That was actually the second time I've seen it and I read the book before the movie came out... I guess that was back in the early 80s.

My "Coming Soon" poster is dated 1982, NCW came out in '83 and won

the Oscar for Best Sound in '84.

If anybody sees it, there is a scene where the main character (played

by Charles Martin Smith) falls through the ice. For a long time, that

scene had the most sound effects mixed into it. The number was 56,

if my memory serves. One for the bubbles, one for his voice, one for

ice creaking, the whole thing separted out into 56 tracks. I think it

wan't until Jurassic Park that the number was surpassed.

I agree with LC that Brokeback Mountain stunk. It was a bit more graphic than I expected too.

Walk the Line was a very good movie and the singing was fantastic!

Chicken Little is a great movie for kids of all ages to enjoy. I know I like it!:wah:

Ya know, I enjoy gore, and thrillers and scary sh!t of all sorts. I really liked "Saw" (haven't seen Saw II yet) and others like it, but this one...I'm taking a "pass." Knowing how warped Tarantino is, I don't think I'd enjoy this one.

I cannot tolerate James Woods. What a farce of an actor, everytime I see him Im watching James Woods play a role and usually the same way. I cant get lost in the story because Im watching an actor play a part.

Edwart Norton for example, Im not watching him as an actor playing a role, Im watching a real story unfold. Thats the difference between good acting and bad acting.

Oh yea, Cuba Gooding sucks too.

Im sure I must have, I thought Id caught everything the both of them did but Im not recallling this..........scratch that it just came to me, it was on the other day, yup hes the best.

I bet River Phoenix would have been one of the greats...shame.

I just finished watching Weatherman. Normally Im getting a little tired of Nicolas Cage, but this film isnt what I thought it would be, I liked it. It was well done and the story was pretty good. Im giving it 3 1/2 popcorn kernels.
