clearly a mass execution, and it had to take several people to control 8 victims. i'm guessing bad drug deal/vengeance/rip off. the killers were sending a very serious warning if this is gang-related.

Eight slain Canadian men knew each other
The latest update I saw said that the deceased were all members of a bike gang and that the owner of the property is afiliated with the gang in some way. This, of course, has not been confirmed by the police.

honestly? i don't think anyone is going to give a damn. this is internal, gangs, drugs, criminals. they didn't murder upstanding citizens. they didn't conceal them because it was a big fat warning. JMO

The area has been home to several motorcycle clubs, including the Loners, the Bandidos and the Hell's Angels. It has witnessed several violent incidents, including the discoveries of two bodies dumped in county fields in separate incidents in 1994 and 1998.
There is some stuff going on in Canada with said M/C's that is likely to spill over into Detroit. I can't say more than that, but it's likely this is linked with those circumstances. I'll be interested to see what happens here.....

The police are professionals, they have to treat every death/murder the same no matter what the victims status is.

I just listened to a feature on this story on CBC Radio.
The report referenced the vicious gang war between the Hell's Angels and the now obliterated Rock Machine in Quebec. This was ten years ago. They quoted a Montreal police official commenting that the hit on one biker meant that there was "one less piece of sh*t on the streets".
That was the pervading opinion at the time, until an 11 year old boy was blown up on the street when a Jeep belonging to a Rock Machine member exploded one afternoon. He was riding by on his bicycle.
The CBC report noted the turf wars in Europe between the Bandidos and Hell's Angels where shoot outs occured in airports, and an apartment block was bombed. (The Ontario massacre seems to be a Bandidos/Angels situation. Several Toronto area Bandidos affiliates have been missing since Friday night.)
Innocent people often get caught up in the crossfire.

That wasn't my intention, Di.
It's human nature not to have a great deal of sympathy when those who live by the sword perish in the same fashion that they have inflicted on others.
It's sobering to think of the repercussions of this action in an Ontario farm field. One of the participants in the radio interview quoted the Bandidos' motto:"Cut one of us, and we all bleed."
He predicted they may strike vengence in places like Chicago or Texas.
There are a handful of Bandidos in Canada: 200 or so (less eight, I presume). There are approximately 2,500 Hell's Angels operating in Canada. They have been on a tear over the last decade, absorbing or obliterating the Paradise Riders, The Loners, Satan's Choice, The Rock Machine, and The Jokers. The Bandidos are supposedly better represented in Texas and the Chicago area. I've heard that they have set down roots in Denmark.
Looks like this turf war is going international.

there will be repercussions in prisons also. the gangs are well-represented in all of them.
Eight slain Canadian men knew each other
over here there are actually special gang squads to deal with the problems in prison. there are huge volumes IDing every tat and hand signal. they kill each other or fight each other, that's one thing, but my concern is that hostage situations could occur over some gang war.

I remember reading some years ago about bikers in Denmark (I think it was Denmark but it was in Scandinavia somewhere) who were blowing each other's clubhouses (ie fortresses) up. And I do remember the problems in Quebec some years ago too, it got quite vicious there.
Sonny Barger really started something didn't he?
A lot of you have some pretty interesting ideas about bike CLUBS. The term "gang" is offensive to most clubs, as it puts them into the same light as the Crypts, Bloods and other such street gangs.
For the most part, M/C's are self-policing. There is more to this story than any of us will ever know. I'm not condoning the killings, don't read that into what I write, but this is a club issue and will likely be handled by the dominant club in the area, which is the Hell's Angels.
Your term "fortresses" is pretty funny, when you're talking about a clubhouse. A clubhouse is where the club gathers to hold meetings and hang out together. It's like a private bar. Most bikers don't like to go to places where they are not allowed to wear their colors, (which is just about every bar there is) so they have their own place to hang out. Their house is protected, yes, but a fortress? Not hardly.
The Bandidos are probably the most hard-core and gang-like of all clubs, and there could be hundreds of reasons this happened. A take-over of the area by the HA is most likely.
At one point, an area of Canada was so over-run by street gangs, that the HA cut a deal with the police. Let us move in, and we will rid the area of the street gangs that are terrorizing the neighborhood. It didn't take long for them to clean house and get rid of of the gangs.
And just a question, Diuretic...what do you know about Sonny Barger?

The late, great Hunter S. Thompson wrote a book about the Hell's Angels around 1964 . I haven't read it in many years, but it was a fascinating account of Thompson's dealings with the group.
Sonny Barger is frequently interviewed and quoted by Thompson.
BTW, the HA are denying any involvement in the Ontario massacre .

BREAKING NEWS
CBC is reporting suspects have been arrested. It now seems it was an "internal cleansing" :
"In what police are referring to as an "internal cleansing" of a biker gang, five people have been charged with first-degree murder in the slayings of eight men in southwestern Ontario.
The victims, whose bodies were found in a farmer's field near Sheddon, and suspects were all linked to the Bandidos biker gang, Ontario Provincial Police confirmed Monday. "

I'm not offended in the least. I just try to shed some light on a group of people that is so often stereotyped. I'm passionate about my lifestyle and it seems like all the times bikers are in the news is when things like this happen. All the good things they do, charity events, memorial runs, all the work we do for St. Judes Children Hospital...all that goes unnoticed. That's all. No worries, I'm more thick-skinned than that. :yh_bigsmi

The background presented by CBC Radio One on the Bandidos made a point of saying that these guys don't even try to put on a pretense of sociability.
They apparently revel in their reputation of being nasty and ruthless.

There are different levels of M/C's Richard. There are M/C's that are more social than anything, there are M/C's that revel in being feared and notorious and every nuance in between. The Bandidos are the farthest up on that scale and do enjoy being feared and wreaking havoc. They are not a club we associate with in any way. They are big, one of the Big 4, and are world-wide. Frankly, the Bandidos are more notorious and even more dangerous than the Hell's Angels. They are also a club I would never want to cross paths with. You are absolutely right in your assessment of them. But note the word "them." Not all M/C's are like that, and as I said, all the good that so many clubs do goes unnoticed. We don't want the praise or kudos or keys to the city for all the good we do, we just don't want to all be painted with the same brush. Were you to visit our clubhouse, you'd be made very comfortable and treated like royalty. We love intermixing with civilians, and are not the type of club to go out and cause trouble, like the B's do.

I hear ya, BR.
About 15 years ago, a Toronto TV station did a feature on it's news report about "the biker problem" in the city.
The genius that produced the segment took his camera crew out to the streets, and grabbed a shot of three or four guys riding their Goldwings ! They looked like a couple of accountants and their podiatrist buddies.
I sent the station a snarky letter (this was the pre e-mail era). That particular station was owned at the time by a family of stodgy, conservative, upper class twits whose grasp on reality was severely distorted by the mountain of old money they had accumulated .
