Time for some lyrics! Sing to your heart's content!

*dedicated to the one I love*

This one's for you, Far...................

Cowboy Take Me Away

Dixie Chicks

I said I wanna touch the earth

I wanna break it in my hands

I wanna grow something wild and unruly

I wanna sleep on the hard ground

In the comfort of your arms

On a pillow of bluebonnets

In a blanket made of stars

Oh it sounds good to me I said

Cowboy take me away

Fly this girl as high as you can

Into the wild blue

Set me free oh I pray

Closer to heaven above and

Closer to you closer to you

I wanna walk and not run

I wanna skip and not fall

I wanna look at the horizon

And not see a building standing tall

I wanna be the only one

For miles and miles

Except for maybe you

And your simple smile

Oh it sounds good to me

Yes it sounds so good to me

Cowboy take me away

Fly this girl as high as you can

Into the wild blue

Set me free oh I pray

Closer to heaven above and

Closer to you closer to you

I said I wanna touch the earth

I wanna break it in my hands

I wanna grow something wild and unruly

Oh it sounds so good to me

Cowboy take me away

Fly this girl as high as you can

Into the wild blue

Set me free oh I pray

Closer to heaven above and

Closer to you closer to you

Closer to you

Cowboy take me away.

Closer to you

I wish I could link up a microphone to this site and sing. Failing that, I enjoy whistling to my heart's content like a birdy.

Artist: Bobby Day Lyrics

Song: Rockin' Robin Lyrics

He rocks in the tree-top all a day long

Hoppin' and a-boppin' and a-singin' the song

All the little birds on J-Bird St.

Love to hear the robin goin' tweet tweet tweet

[Chorus]

Rockin' robin (tweet tweet tweet)

Rockin' robin (tweet tweet tweet)

Oh rockin' robin well you really gonna rock tonight

Every little swallow, every chickadee

Every little bird in the tall oak tree

The wise old owl, the big black crow

Flapping them wings sayin' go bird go

[Chorus]

A wordy little raven at the bird's first dance

Taught him how to do the bop and it was grand

He started goin' steady and bless my soul

He out popped the buzzard and the oriole

He rocks in the tree-top all a day long

Hoppin' and a-boppin' and a-singin' the song

All the little birds on J-Bird St.

Love to hear the robin goin' tweet tweet tweet

[Chorus]

WooHoo Cowboy.......this ones for you! :)

Artist/Band: Montgomery John Michael

Lyrics for Song: Life's A Dance

Lyrics for Album: Life's A Dance

When I was fourteen I was falling fast

For a blue eyed girl in my homeroom class

Trying to find the courage to ask her out

Was like trying to get oil from a waterspout

What she would have said I can't say

I never did ask and she moved away

But I learned something from my blue eyed girl

Sink or swim you gotta give it a whirl

Life's a dance you learn as you go

Sometimes you lead, sometimes you follow

Don't worry about what you don't know

Life's a dance you learn as you go

The longer I live the more I believe

You do have to give if you wanna recieve

There's a time to listen, a time to talk

And you might have to crawl even after you walk

Had sure things blow up in my face

Seen the longshot, win the race

Been knocked down by the slamming door

Picked myself up and came back for more

Life's a dance you learn as you go

Sometimes you lead, sometimes you follow

Don't worry about what you don't know

Life's a dance you learn as you go

Life's a dance you learn as you go

Sometimes you lead, sometimes you follow

Don't worry about what you don't know

Life's a dance you learn as you go

Life's a dance you learn as you go

Sometimes you lead, sometimes you follow

Don't worry about what you don't know

Life's a dance you learn as you go

Life's a dance

Life's a dance

Life's a dance

Take a chance on love

Life's a dance

You learn as you go

Gin Blossoms: Not Only Numb

Looking all around the room I see the clutter in the gloom

I’m not only back, I’m not only numb

Changing shades within the evening

In a day then I’ll be leaving

I’m not only back, I’m not only numb

When the air at home is thin

Getting out then looking in

Yeah she knows, she knows, she knows

It ain’t awful hard to tell

What it’s like, my little hell

Yeah she knows, she knows, she knows

I’m now familiar with the tone I hear in bed when I’m alone

I’m not only back, I’m not only numb

In the shade below the eaves

Think I could chain smoke anything

I’m not only back, I’m not only numb

When the air at home is thin

Getting out, then looking in

Yeah she knows, she knows, she knows

It ain’t awful hard to tell

What it’s like, my little hell

Yeah she knows, she knows, she knows

She knows, she knows, she knows

She sees all the cars around the parking lots of bars we’ve played and stayed

Started laughing, looking down upon the bed that we’ve made

We’ve made, we’ve made, we’ve made

She sees all the cars around the parking lots of bars we’ve played and stayed

Started laughing, looking falling down across the bed that we’ve made

We’ve made, we’ve made, we’ve made

The air at home is thin

When getting out, then looking in

I’m not only back, I’m not only numb

Changing shades within the evening

In a day, then I’ll be leaving

I’m not only back, I’m not only numb...

Phish ” “Bathtub Gin”

Brett is in the bathtub

Making soup for the ambassadors

And I am in the hallway

Singing to the troubadours

The kings are all lined up

Outside the gate

And the autumn bells are ringing

But they’ll just have to wait

Where is the joker?

Have you seen him around

With his three coned cap

That he wears like a clown?

Have you seen his stripped stockings

And heard his sad tale

About the kids under the carpet

And the purple humpbacked whales

Here come the ambassadors

They show up one by one

Brett is tasting all the soup

To see if it is done

Wendy’s on the windowsill

Waiting to be let in

And we’re all in the bathtub now

Making bathtub gin

The kings storm the hallway

They’ve climbed up through the gate

They didn’t mean to be impolite

But they just couldn’t wait

Here comes the joker

With his silly grin

He carries a martini

Made of bathtub gin

Here comes the joker

We all must laugh

Cause we’re all in this together

And we love to take a bath.

This is my own pen/

1. With a fag hanging out of her bloodied mouth

With sweat on her face and a jellied gaze.

A blackened eye

A shitty pie

A pocketful of lice,

A roomful of squealing mice

Chorus:

Laugh away, laugh away

Laugh away, laugh away.

Laugh away to your heart's content

If you know what her life really meant.

Can you see things the way she see things?

Do you understand her grasping hand?

2. With her clothes hanging off.

Just tattered torn cloth.

Scratches a bearded face

In her need for space.

Her stomach distorted,

From being courted,

And her scarred limbs,

Show man's perverted whims.

Chorus.

Laugh away, laugh away.

Laugh away, laugh away.

3. When her life fades away,

There'll be another to fray;

To be beaten,

By disease eaten.

Too frightened to sleep,

In case of a creep.

And yet they know.

They'll eventually go...

BANG.

Easter is coming up. And it's no different to Christmas. It's a symbol of fertiltiy, rejuvenation, the Maypole (which has been banned in England for some misgotten reason), the ressurrection of the Christ.

Would someone please explain to me why a chocolate egg-shaped thing wrapped in tin-foil and ensconsed in a cardboard box became the symbol of easter?

The Cross and the Resurrection are what I think of as representing Easter.

The other things, the bunnies, the eggs, the candy-are old traditions interwoven overtime, just like in Christmas as you wrote.

Your song is so sad Open....................................

The song is not just for Easter but all year round.

It's a song of suffering.

Open, I suffer daily and endure many things. I rejoice my husband lived to be 50 today. I did not think that possible. I do not know if he will awake in the mornings, so I wonder every night and pray he will. He smiled for me today several times, so for me, it was a good day. Other days, well..........

It is good to write of these things. I just live a day at a time, and rejoice that I am still here. Reading those things are sometimes hard, but necessary. And I thank you for posting it. :)

Where's all the money gone? - I'm talking to you,

All up the whole in your arm,

is the needle a much better screw?

But oh, what will you do alone? Cos I have to go.

Where is this life of fun that you promised me?

Nothing here works but your works and I mean it

I have to leave

But oh, what will you do alone? Cos I have to go.

If I was the wife of an acrobat would I look like the living dead, boy?

You're on the wire and can't get back,Let's talk about the living dead

Could have had a car, could have had it all,

Could have walked in the sky but we stare at the wall.

I know where the money's gone - I know what you do

Cos I've seen the hole in your arm and the needle's a much better screw

but oh, what will you do alone? Cos I have to go.

On Easter Sunday, I will post some poignant lyrics that I wrote way back in the early 70s. They all have music, so to speak. But, if I'm honest, the music needs updating. But, since I can't sing them on the forum, it is neither here nor there.

For Far Rider and Ms Vicky! ;)

Artist/Band: Canyon George

Lyrics for Song: One Good Friend

Lyrics for Album: One Good Friend

Well my Daddy used to tell me

Any man can be a king,

it ain't that complicated,

it's a very simple thing.

You don't need no castle or throne for sitting in,

All you need is one good friend.

If you find yourself somebody who will meet you at a stump,

on a rainy sunday morning before the sun is even up.

Who'll stand right there beside you and fight any fight you're in,

then you've got one good friend.

There ain't nothing wrong with all those rowdy boys I run with,

the ones that I go drink with after work.

Lately it's been hit'n me that when my heart's in trouble,

you're the one that always shows up first.

You're a pleasure as a lover, you're a treasure as a wife.

I don't have to wonder what I can count on in this life.

You've already proved it too me time and time again

Baby you're one good friend.

You're the one who sends me flying and gently reels me in,

baby you're one good friend.
