I've been having a few problems with my laptop lately, for some reason the screen just freezes, i cant do anything at all so i have to shut it down & reboot it. I must admit i'm not very computer literate so dont have a clue, i've run my anti virus and its coming up clear so i dont think i have a virus, it did start getting worse when i recently installed AOL messenger.
Any help would be good if you have any ideas guys, thanks x

If you're running Windows XP you might try doing a "system restore" to a previous date.

Maybe it's overheating. Laptops don't have very good ventilation. See if the frequency of crashes is related to room temperature. You can get a fan for a laptop that the laptop sits on and keeps it cooler
Look what the cat dragged in.

It could be heat, system memory, or simply a problem with Windows. If you have your Windows install disk, you can try running this command at the Start->Run prompt:
sfc /scannow
This will examine and replace any altered or corrupted core Windows files. However, you need to have your Windows disk.
