McDonald's Wants your Mug!

Post by Sheryl »

OAK BROOK, Ill. - Want to get your face in front of 50 million people? Here's your big chance ” have it featured on a McDonald's cup or bag.

The world's largest fast-food company announced what it called an online casting call Monday, giving customers a chance to be featured on its packaging used daily in more than 100 countries.

As many as 25 winners will be chosen from consumers' entries at http://www.mcdglobalcasting.com, where hopefuls must submit a personal story of what they love in 100 words or less ” in any of 16 languages ” and a digital photo capturing the essence of their story.

It's all part of McDonald's Corp.'s latest push behind its ubiquitous "I'm lovin' it" advertising campaign.

The company said it will select its new packaging "stars" based on submissions that capture the "I'm lovin' it" spirit with themes of inspiration, passion and fun.

"Our first online global casting call uses technology in a new approach to bring the energy and spirit of 'I'm lovin' it' to life by connecting with consumers and giving them a stage on which to express themselves about the things they love," said Mary Dillon, McDonald's global chief marketing officer.

Hmmm what a way to become famous!

McDonalds does seemed to have taken over the world hasn't it?? I only go there when I am really hungry, and looking for a quick snack whilst I am out. We have about 4 of them here I think, so it's certainly not hard to find one. There food certainly is no delight, but when I'm starving I tend to eat anything even McDonalds burgers.

Well actually we don't really have that many food spots in certain areas where I live. We have quite a few industrial estate areas, and the only food you can get anywhere near there is basically a McDonalds, unless you want to walk over an hour to get into town. That's probably why so many people go for the easy option over quality of food. Though I always though that McDonalds was more of a youngster spot, but I've seen people of all ages in there recently. Must be spreading!! :wah:

:wah: Oh you have that right. If anyone decided to open up a decent restaurant with some nice quality, good priced food in the area, then I have no doubt that the cash will be flowing in sooner rather than later. That's a message out there to all you prospective restaurant business foke out there. Move here please!! :)

That is exactly what we need over here. It's all well and good have streets full of pubs and McDonalds, but for those of us that would rather have a decent good lunch or breakfast out, then we really are left hanging. I'm sure if someone decided to do likewise, then their reputation will surely go a long way over time and who knows what the future would hold for them, should they decide to pursue it any further.
