Who's a closet ebay junkie? Anyone? I'm a little slow off the mark with ebay, I made my first ever purchase last week and it's due to arrive tomorrow (I hope) :wah: It's just a little one to get my feet wet, but now i just sit looking looking through the myriad of useless crap that people sell on there. :wah:

I thought it was about 6pm. It's actually 8pm. :-5

I wouldn't say I'm an ebay junkie, but I have purchased quite a few karoake cd's, a guitar at a great price, a baby lullabye cd, skateboards, etc. A lot of stuff is better priced on ebay than you'll find in any store.

E Bay has been good to me so far. A word of warning though. I recieved an e mail at home with an E Bay heading stating they needed to update my cc info and if it wasnt done promtly it would go to collections. None of that made sense so I passed it on to them. It was spoof mail, they try to get personal or sensitive info on you so beware. If anything doesnt look right it probably isnt. They have a safeguard against that now so check into it if you use E Bay.

I abought quite a few things on eBay. Had a great time for a few months. And I got good enough at it to start to sell. But then PayPal decided to take it's part of the profits so I stopped selling and was so annoyed, I even stopped buying. Thinking of starting buying again. PayPal doesn't take my money when I buy. LOL:D

Oh I LOVE Ebay! I buy and sell regularly on there!

My daughter collects Felicity Wishes and Powerpuff Girls stuff. She now has the complete collection of FW dolls, which are impossible to buy outside of Ebay!

And she has PPG cushions which I got from the USA Ebay site because you just can't get them in this country!

I buy my son games for his consuls and pay just a few pounds for them, instead of £40 in the shops. I've also got him some rare games which you can no longer buy, but which he wanted.

I buy clothes from HolyClothing on the USA site. They sell gorgeous goth style stuff in velvets and silks. Their clothes look and feel just wonderful!

I also collect ornaments. The company that makes them sells different collections in different countries. I have bought the English and American collections and have recently bought the Australian collection which is being shipped to me right now from Oz! Woohoo!

Hubby buys puter programs as he likes to make his own graphics.

I've only been ripped off once, where some bast&*d took my money and did a runner. After that I joined paypal and they got my money back within a week from someone I'd paid who never got around to sending the item.

I also sell stuff. Eg, clothes the kids have grown out of and only worn once or twice. Also their old books and toys. I'm trying to make some space at home and selling books and videos also. These are all things I used to give to charity shops but even if you sell things for £1 each, 20 items = £20! The charity shops still get some stuff, just not as much!

My daughter loves cats and desperately wants a kitten, but she's a chronic asthmatic and can't have one. So for Christmas one year I bought her a whole pile of t-shirts with cats on. They were adorable! All were either brand new or nearly new and she loved them! It also means the kids get more pressies for Christmas for the same money I would normally spend. Very often the things you buy are brand new and were unwanted gifts.

The only thing I don't like is the feedback system. It doesn't matter whether I buy or sell, I always seem to be the first to leave feedback. I think the seller should leave feedback first to say the buyer has paid and then the buyer should leave feedback when the item arrives. This Christmas I bought a Bratz house for my daughter, but when it arrived it was in really poor condition. I contacted the seller who said she would give me my money back if I returned it, but she wouldn't refund postage! Because she didn't see why she should "lose out"! The b*tch!

So if I returned it and got my money back, I would lose £15 postage (2x £7.50) and have nothing, whereas she could readvertise and get some other poor schmuck to buy her crappy item! So I kept it and gave her a negative feedback.

Then she, the mega-b*tch, gave me a negative feedback too! Yet I had paid her immediately via paypal! I contacted Ebay but they only offered to remove both feedbacks and I wanted hers to stay! See, I can be a b*tch too! :wah:

I'm sorry, but I'm in total disagreement. I was far from satisfied trying to pay by paypal, and found the e-bay system anything but straightforward. In the end, I used some other payment system. I had a lot of trouble getting into my account, so now totally ignore it, the problem being it is rammed down our throats at every turn. I find whatever I want, if I press the search engine, it'll tell me to go to e-bay. WHY THE HELL SHOULD ONE COMPANY HOLD THE MONOPOLY?? It's the same as Amazon - everything has to come from from America. Between them, they operate a cartel. I ordered videos via Amazon which never arrived. When I contacted the seller, he didn't seem to give a damn, shrugged his shoulders, and told me to claim off Amazon. I tried, but all I get is a load of crap advertising, so not only is it £30.00 up the spout, I vowed that that I would NEVER, EVER' USE EITHER AMAZON OR E-BAY AGAIN. And believe me, as a Christian, my word is VERY much my bond!

I ordered a skype phone off Amazon on the Tues got it on the thurs

and it was much cheaper than the stores i'm very impressed.

I hope you continue to find e-bay a success. Obviously the vast majority of customers do, otherwise it wouldn't be there, but as I said, I would profer to see more competition. Also I prefer to see what I am buying. I cannot help but feel there must be others out there who share my view. Maybe Amazon and e-bay are so big they are not worried about losing small fry like me. After all, there are far bigger fish out there than me. All I do know is I've had problems with both of them and as I said - my word is my bond: neither will be hearing from me again.

I'm okay, it was just this one woman who pi$$ed me off bigtime!!

Other than that the majority of Ebayers are very kind, nice people, who are usually very friendly and considerate. I guess she was just the 'snake in the grass' and every Eden has to have one!

I have to say that I did get a little bit addicted to eBay about six months ago, I used to do a lot of console gaming on the XBox, and I used to pick up games really cheaply on eBay.
