Saint Patrick's Day

Post by weeder »

Eleven years ago this St. Patricks day.... I was in a gay bar in San Diego... with a transexual man from Hawaii.. who used to dress up in drag and do shows. And a wonderful funny young black woman. We were drinking laughing, and eating corn beef and cabbage from the buffet. Earlier that evening they had come together to pick me up at my hotel. ( I was there for the week for a job interview) I came down stairs dressed and ready to go. Couldnt find them. They were laying in the bushes.. stoned and laughing their a***s off. We had a ball that night. Unfortunately, instead of taking the job.... I came home to New York because the man who used to leave his dirty underwear laying around...... and who never laughed.... was waiting for me. Ha ha ha .. This story is true!! Thank you God for all of the funny memories I have. I wish I could do that night again.

Bizarre huh? Its like it was a dream.. but its true. They were employees at the place I was interviewing for.... Since I was there for the week.. They wanted to take me out. It was a PISSA! And it was San Diego... The town was right by Balboa Park.

I hope you guys have a blast at your St. Patty's day party!! Me? I'll be slinging green beer and corned beef sandwiches at the speed of light with my hair on fire at the Alibi. We're actually getting it catered by a nearby famous (for this area) corned beef place called Jimmy D's, so less work involved for us. But Patty's day is soon going to overtake the current front runner for the busiest bar night of the year, which is the night before Thanksgiving. WIsh me luck, I'll be making a killing!! Save some corned beef for me!

I play in a folk band doing mainly irish music. This is one of the busiest weeks of the year for us. Five gigs this week!

My husband is from Ireland!:yh_shamrk Before kids we would go out on St. Patrick's day but these days I usually cook up a ham and cabbage dinner and we have some Guinness at home! We'll probably start attending some festivities during the day, parades, etc. now that the kids are a bit older! :yh_shamrk :)

I play fiddle; there's a rhythm guitarist/singer & a bodhran player/singer too.
