Well the farm sale is over!
We are no longer farmers. Our sale was a success today. Another family farm has bit the dust.

Sheryl, it's hard to tell whether this is a good thing or a bad thing for you personally. How are you feeling about it?
[FONT=Arial Black]I hope you cherish this sweet way of life, and I hope you know that it comes with a price.

It's ok guys, I'm not too sad about it. My husband has already found another job running a spray rig for a larger farm. So that's been a real blessing. I won't miss the stress of trying to fight mother nature when planting or trying to harvest a crop. No more 3 a.m. trips to the fields to reverse sprinklers.
I guess the only thing that bothers me is that alot of people do not realize that family farms are dying out.

That's a good question, I'm not sure really how I feel. When I married David, I had to get used to a whole new lifestyle. The farm came first, no matter what. It was hard getting used to the fact that we couldn't just take off and go somewhere because of the farm. It's going to be wierd for a little while, but I'm sure I'll be happy with whatever path God leads me down now.

Good thoughts coming your way Sheryl.
I have friends that run the only dairy farm in our County and I know what you're talking about re: the hard work, effort and putting the farming above all else. Whatever path the future holds for you and your husband, I wish you all the best!
