what have you noticed? any signs of aging? sagging? bagging? wrinkles? forgetfulness? driving around with your turn signal on all day? going to the early bird special for dinner? commiserate here, we can support each other in this tragic situation. here's mine...i can walk from one room to another and forget what the hell i went in there for. i have to write EVERYTHING down to stay organized! and yet i can recall every crime report i ever read/wrote. is this what dementia is??
so when they put me in the home, i won't have any wrinkles. great.

Oh, I do the note thing too, and the forgetting to take my list to the store, I write notes for my errands for the day and leave THAT at home....but the biggest thing I've noticed as I get older? My groupings with the AK-47 are getting looser at 40 yards.
I keep forgetting to add "Eye Dr. Appt." to my list. :-2

Dementia may not be so bad when you come to think about it. You won't know or care that you have sagging, bagging, wrinkles, & what, oh yeah forgetfulness.
And what's wrong with early bird specials? I myself don't like getting old, & I dwell on how it was when I was young. And of the things I would have changed back then that would have improved my life now. Oh well, who knew back when you were young & foolish, that one day you'd be old & still foolish! :wah:

I'm 59 + 1/2 soooooooooo..........aging =
grey hair
no wrinkles but just look 'older'
no 'age spots'
a bit overweight
Don't sleep well
A few signs of arthritis
Can't run for bus without needing a medic !
forgetful yes...but take steps to 'mask it'...(bulls**t in otherwords)
I have a problem buying clothes...I like fashionable stuff but don't
want to look like the proverbial 'mutton dressed as lamb'
Positives =
More tolerant
More patient
Get less stressed over trivial things
The memory thing seems to be a problem with everyone but in reality everything is 'in there' but it takes longer to recall.....I always try and deal with any issues straight away so that my mind doesn't get cluttered.....a mental 'De-frag' I guess.
I Make lists....write stuff down.... and I talk to myself. In the morning when I go to work , after I lock the door I keep saying " the door is locked" over and over until I get in the car....before, I would get to the car and then walk all the way back to check ....it was mad.
I've recently been on a course about 'Improving Memory'....I'll look out the notes and see if I can post some handy tips.....one thing I do know, belonging to FG and keeping the brain active by participating in banter, discussion and games can only be good and keeps the brain exercised.
Good thread LC...I'm sure we'll get loads of handy tips :-4

Yup, this is me. Getting to be blind as a bat. I used to be able to read the teeniest tiniest writing, but for the last year I've found it's just a blur. I wear glasses when I'm on the puter cos it gives me headaches but even they don't make the small stuff clearer.
However, I reckon its a blessing really, cos I'll get to the stage when I look in the mirror and can't see all the lines and wrinkles, etc.) hehe
Haven't got the wrinklies yet but am starting to get "laughter" lines (who's laughing?) under my eyes. Anyone recommend anything to get rid of the little bu**ers?
I'm also becoming deaf as a post. My family have to repeat stuff 3 times then say "Oh, forget it" and I stand there like a lemon saying "what?" "what?"
Forgetful? Yup. It's my middle name! I think.
I pick things up to pack away and half way there forget what I'm doing and do something else. So the other day I went to put the milk away and later found I'd put the remote control for the TV in the fridge instead! And we'd spent an hour searching for it! Nuts!

One good thing about being 'a certain age' is that you can suffer from 'selective' hearing, and no one bats an eyelid.

Well I'm 58 will be 59 in September, what the heck happened I know I was 40 just last week. :yh_rotfl Time does march on darnit...!! For me its not the mind I'm still sharp as I was at 30 maybe even a little better in some areas, have to be in my line of work. I don't have a daytimer, or use notes all in my head, don't need no damn PDA or Treo to get through a day.:-5 I don't have any wrinkles, I'm a few pounds heavier than I should be, and not much gray hair either (my mom at 79 has not one wrinkle) genetics help with that.
My poor ol body is beat up from years of playing sports ie: Surfuing, Soccer, Softball, Basketball you name it I played it, had I know that every injury would lead to pain in the joints for the rest of my life I would have been a bit more careful on the field. But that was then this is now, when it's cold I feel it in my bones, and my "GET UP AND GO, GOT UP AND WENT", and getting a good nights sleep has new meaning...!!:D Menapause was a cruel and unusual punishment I felt....!!

No, I'm not, sadly. But I see an opportunity here, whilst I'm changing things about my life, to try harder with caring for myself. (I wish I could feel as confident about that as it sounds in writing)

I have a large M&S just 10 minutes away from where I live theia, so I go there every week.....there are huge pictures of her (Twiggy) everywhere so every time you turn round, THERE SHE IS.....she's a lovely lady though.....most of my clothes are M&S (NOT classic collection though.)...I like Per Una and the basic things like Jeans, shirts etc can always be relied on size wise...for me anyway.

We don't have the pictures here, Bez, thank goodness. But then, I think it was BR who posted some photos of female celebrities on a bad day (Big Brother thread, I think, some months ago) and they looked very much their age. So that was a little heartening. So much must be done with lighting, make up and skill.

I am fighting it. I may only be 38, but I feel 25. I stay active, I hang out with people younger than me, and I am addicted to Regenerist! But I show signs of aging when it comes to my health and talking about my childhood.
I don't want to get older, I still want to have kids and travel and finish school and do all of the things I have not yet accomplished.

I'm pretty lucky, Swedish and Norweigan genes are rather hardy. I still have lots of thick blonde hair, with only a couple of stray grey ones at 45. I have a few "Clint Eastwood" lines at the side of my eyes, and despite being in the sun for most of my life, I have pretty good skin. (I always, always use a good suntan lotion, with aloe vera gel for any burning)
Not overweight, (I don't have time to eat) very active, (I teach day school, night school, and summer school ) and I never go outside without sunglasses so my eyes are still good.
So when people card me for buying beer, they usually tell me, "You sure don't look that old.":o
