Greetings & salutations from Prince Edward Island!

Based on my initial impression, this looks like an interesting and worthwhile discussion board. With lots of topics, a diversity of opinions all laid out in a clear and logical format my time spent here should be enjoyable.

And considering the past weeks weather here, I may be spending more time here than I had initially planned. After three major blizzards and a cold snap with wind chills of -35 c sitting in front of my keyboard is infinitely preferrable to freezing off various appendages outside. Somehow I am left with the distinct inpression that there most be some brass monkeys hanging somewhere in my family tree.

hello and welcome...i was in your lovely PEI camping when i was younger, i remember it well. Roosevelt's home and a sardine cannery and pier stand out in my mind. it is a good memory. :-6

Judging from the reference to "Alligator Alley" in your profile your weather is considerably warmer than ours.

Every year there is a province wide competition for improving the appearance of rural properties. Prizes can be quite an incentive (think tickets for anywhere Air Canada flies in the country) so when that pretty well ensures the competition. And since my home is on a 2.5 acre lot there is one hell of a lot of land to scape....

Feel free to razz me about the potatoes. I'd be rather disappointed if somebody didn't.

It's like spring time already. I would be walking around in shorts if I could get out of bed right now. We lost two houses to slides in North Van but that's the last I heard of it.

Glad to hear things have improved. And I have no doubt the revised choice pf fashion attire would definitely be more flattering to you. I could just picture Stacey & Clinton from TLC's "What Not To Wear" swooping in on you when wearing the hip waders ready to drag you off to New York for a complete makeover.

Sadly with the weather here, if somebody was to try the same switch in clothing, the only ones swooping on you would be bearing straight jackets and industrial strength sedatives.

Hmmmmm... this has me intrigued... sounds like some of the residents of my other discussion board hangout.

I must seek out these threads and posts by this "Paula" to see how they unwind.

Thanks for the welcome. At east it is a lot warmer than out sub zero weather... speaking of which, I have to go now. Seems the neighbors needs help chipping his dog off the fire hydrant....

We got more yesterday, today is shaping up to be okay. I'm down in the lower SW portion of the state.

Yup - know it well. The Capital One Fixed Rate Card ad. Very funny.

As for my heritage, it comes from Vikings who settled in Ireland and then moved on to Prince Edward Island. Thanks to them I now have an Nordic/Irish heritage that pretty well ensures that all I do in the summer is turn varying shades of sunburn red.

But the Hagar moniker comes from being a comic strip fan. Always liked his style approach to life.

Hi Paula. Thanks for joining the welcoming party. As for picking on you, I wouldn't dream of it ... not at least 'till I know you much better.

As for what I bring to the table will be purely a case of situational management. Let's see - I'm a small 'c' conservative with a very progressive stance on social issues.

Musical tastes include everything from Garth Brooks, Beethoven to AC/DC & Queen. Freddie Mercury was a musical genius. I have yet to acquire a taste for opera but I do like some selections from Bizet's Carmen. I also like traditional Celtic fiddle music.

If I had been an American at the time of the last election I would have voted Kerry. But I have always been an admirer of Senator John McCain and feel he would have been the best option in the 2000 race for the White House.

I'm a die hard news junkie who needs a daily fix of at least three different cable news networks or I go into withdrawal.

Favorite time spent in front of the TV is for either CSI of Star Trek Enterprise.

For a guy who used to hate yard work growing up, I now love landscaping and otherwise maintaining my yard.

As for what I have seen so far, I feel very much at home thus far. Like my other discussion board hangout, the layout and feel are quite similar. What has impressed me more though is the people I have encountered. So far - so good.

Welcome Hagar. From the land of the inland solar water heater. It's 21 degrees Farenheit. Added the Farenheit 'cause I didn't want you to think that we were running around in our t-shirts 'n' stuff. Try not to tell too many of your other board, board friends about here 'cause they'll all come over and none of us will ever see anything other than the screen and keyboard for the rest of our days.
